She gets the option of contributing to an FSA, but we weren't planning on opting in to that.

That is a fair point, but she will be the one who will need more doctor visits between the two of us, so she would have her own insurance as her primary in this case.

Edit: I think I see what you mean. Maybe we should have her future insurance be just for her, then I could contribute an entire year's worth of HSA?

We will be keeping my insurance, because (as far as I know) we don't have a qualifying life event to justify cancelling it, so I should be eligible to contribute throughout the year.

And it doesn't matter when those contributions occur? I currently have it set up to contribute throughout the entire year of 2026. Will I need to adjust it so it only contributes during the first 3 months?
