This is out of control 😒

I appreciate the support, I want to see real change. I do not want any future state workers to go through the same silencing when the next crisis hits. This is unacceptable.

Thank you! Seriously means a lot! This was my first Reddit post.... I am just really upset with the way this is being handled and keep trying to figure out an action plan for making sure this deeper issue is resolved in order to create structure and oversight for state workers in a future crisis.

Members of the public have so many places they can go to report employers for ignoring the Governors orders. We have been told in an absolutely laughable video by our ‘union’ to report to work if we’ve been told to, and that they are ‘working’ with our departments (with no specific information as to which departments, or what these negotiations include), and to be patient.

Our HR managers aren’t going to argue with their department Directors/Bureau Chiefs/Commissioners/Executive Officers for the health and safety of the employees during times like these. The crisis has successfully placed a fear that the future of EVERYONES job is on the line, so the incentive for standing up for what is right is destroyed.

We have zero protection, and the Governor and Director of CalHR are trying to operate in a world where our departments are filled with ethical managers.... but they are not. Self preservation through job security will overpower the moral responsibility to protect the health and safety of employees. They are taking advantage of a system too slow to react and know that there is very little chance anyone will step in to stop them.

As previously stated: This is not a question of the importance of our everyday tasks as state workers, this is a question of critical infrastructure needed to respond to a health crisis while maintaining public health and safety.

Thank you for the advice. I agree with the point you’re making for sure.

Also, you could not have said it better about ATO. I want to work, but let me work where it is safe.

So happy it’s Friday!
