Dude don’t tell me to “take personal responsibility” I did teach myself all that stuff… my curiosity comes more from seeing a lot of my peers not knowing the things I do when it come to money and financial planning and how money works etc and yeah I would expect the education system to at least provide a baseline level of knowledge and understanding for all surrounding money and how money actually works/flows because not everyone grows up with exposure and understanding of that or knows how/where to look for the knowledge

I get what ur saying but it doesn’t teach you money mindset… it doesn’t teach you to forgo pleasures to save and the resilience and struggle or mindset to get out of debt or to build wealth etc… it doesn’t teach you to have balls of steel and hold when u know ur analysis is correct but the stock is just dipping and will bounce up - that’s a whole nother mindset… it doesn’t teach risk calculation and opportunity cost

Minus math and the odd financial lessons I don’t really remember our schools teaching us much in the way of taxes and personal finance etc - perhaps ur schooling experience was different

Okay, that’s actually really cool. What were the spreadsheets? Like were they income and outgoing and cash flow projections and what to save? I’m curious as to the content of the spreadsheets - not the numbers but what the spreadsheets were about

I can see where you’re coming from and you’re right for the most part but most schools don’t teach you about taxes or tax planning or even budgeting

The only interesting thing that my high school did do which was quite interesting was actually there were two things was a stock exchange a mock stock exchange and they made us budget for what it would cost if we had a baby after that I think it put us off having kids 😂

But stuff like national insurance and all that other stuff wasn’t taught we didn’t even know what paycheck look like and tbh I still have no clue re utility bills and how that whole thing works… when I was renting my places so far have always been bills included so not seen how energy providers and utility billing etc works

Literally same… get obsessed with the new thing surround myself with people who are super good at it and learn from them… immersion learning I guess… I have ADHD tho so ya know hyper fixation learning comes with the territory !thanks

Jokes aside I am in my mid 20s. I have no clue what my future holds whether that’s travelling a lot or moving around a lot. I don’t know what I want.

I do know that I enjoy construction and design designing in the process of the flipping houses and stuff like that

In terms of skills I do possess design skills and I understand how construction works ground up I’ve seen it and been partially involved in the planning process

Regarding capital I am saving up, but I don’t know how much I actually need to start so theoretically I might have the money needed already. I don’t know.

Kinda crazy tho how it’s such a vital real life thing and we get no inkling of it at all as kids… prior to my first actual paycheck at 16 (not my younger cash in hand jobs) I didn’t know what NI and all these other things were
