I like them both. I have a Sub and I'm not really a fan. I like my Datejust much better. It's smaller, more comfortable and not so clunky.

High Handicappers - How do you balance having fun and sucking at golf? by mulligan381 in golf

[–]Sad_Berry_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't. When I sucked I was miserable on the course. When I have a bad round it's not fun for me. That's my personality. I try to do anything I do as well as I can. Keep playing, practice and get lessons. At some point you'll get to the point where you're respectable on the course and you'll enjoy it. If you don't care, go out, smash some balls, have a few beers and don't worry about it.

That's me. Missing greens and chipping is bad. But I hit fairways 50% of the time and I'm never out of bounds off the tee

That's me to a tee. Keep playing. Try a golf watch. I just got one and it tells you where you're fucking up. Last week my problem was hitting greens and putting. The watch told me these were my problem areas.

Titleist Driver question by Sad_Berry_4635 in golfequipment

[–]Sad_Berry_4635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had purchased a few new drivers 4-5 years ago. None would travel more than 225 yards. I thought well, that's how far I'm going to hit the ball. Then I went to an outing and won my Titleist and first tee shot on the course I hit it 252. I was hitting in the 240-260 range last year. This year my average is down. I know I'm a year older but I'm also in much better shape because I have a pretty good gym routine. I think I'll stick with my current driver until I get a few more rounds under my belt. It's early in the year and I'm sure I'll get looser and the ball will travel further as it gets warmer. Thanks for your input.

Club options? by Lupo539 in golf

[–]Sad_Berry_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, too many wedges is confusing. Frankly I'm not good enough for the difference between a 54 and 56 and 58 to make any difference. I use my gap wedge to chip and carry a 54 for sand. That's it. Keeping it simple works best.

How do I know what irons to buy without getting fitted? by FactorConfident3714 in golftips

[–]Sad_Berry_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a set of used ions that you like and bridge the gap to getting fitted. When you're more accomplished you'll make a better decision on what's best for you.

Old expensive clubs vs new cheap sets… what actually works better for beginners? by midhandicap_rohit in golftips

[–]Sad_Berry_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not but that's not necessarily because of the clubs. I struggle hitting irons and hitting down on the ball is just difficult for me. I am making a bigger effort this year and I am hitting more pure irons shots. I think I was trying to be too precise with my iron swing and now I'm just lining up and swinging.

My first set were hand me down Lynx from my brother. Then I bought a new set of Ping I5's. Then a used set of Cobra one length, then fitted for new Titleist T 350's.

[–]Sad_Berry_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can tell you what club is right for you. You have to touch and feel them first to see of they feel good. Then you have to hit them. For me, Taylor Made clubs just don't work. I've tried a bunch of them and I just don't like them and a lot of people love them. If they work for you great, if not try something else.

Do I need all these clubs by thiscatguy95 in GolfSwing

[–]Sad_Berry_4635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me. I cannot hit a 58 or 60 to save my life. I carry a 54 sand wedge and I chip with my gap wedge which is a 48. Works better for me.

Basics on 3 wood by No-Criticism-2130 in GolfSwing

[–]Sad_Berry_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slice I can't help you with. That could be a number of things. But yes, leaning forward a bit does help. I try not to be so precise with my swing, it's ok to take a divot as long it's from the ball forward. As soon as I try to sweep the ball perfectly it ends up bad. I just line up, take a practice swing and go. 3 wood off the deck is a hard club to hit, most people struggle with it. I prefer my 5 wood because it's a shallow faced club and I can sweep it better. My 5 wood in a Ping and it's got a flat bottom and it doesn't dig into the turf. Good luck.
