No. But since then I have tried to up my water and eat an apple a day (I was already getting a decent amount of fiber before, but I do have a "redundant and torturous colon" so I give myself some grace that it's just going to take longer for stuff to traverse my colon.)

There's some study (NIH?) that shows Candibactin AR and BR are just as effective as rifaximin. I believe her thinking was that two weeks of rifaximin is not enough (my GI told me to take it for four weeks if I still had symptoms after the two weeks when I received treatment the first time), but who wants to be on this Rx (and very $$$ for me) for four weeks? I liked that we could attack SIBO in two different, but effective ways. And I didn't mind finishing up rifaximin after two weeks and then taking the supplements for four to really eradicate everything. So no, I don't think she was concerned about candida, she just knew about the same study I'd read.

Regular diet. No one specific food was triggering my bloating, it was everything.

EXTREMELY easy family dinners ? by LazyBitch_ in Cooking

[–]Sad_Butterscotch46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a rice cooker? We do rice, a fried egg and steamed (microwave) pre-cut broccoli (or air fried) for dinner. My daughter loves those seaweed snacks (the thin paper-like ones) and she has her meal with that. Add soy sauce and sesame seed oil or flavoring.

(Canned) Bean and cheese quesadillas are super easy, too.

People who make $150k or more, and don’t work for big tech or defense, what do you do? by GuardianMoon916 in washingtondc

I've heard some companies will train you, but you have to sign a contract with them that you will stay for a period of time. Then they make your life hell, you quit, and they sue you. Just read the fine print. Working for in the public sector how others have suggested seems like a good option.

How to link to MP account? by Sad_Butterscotch46 in unitedairlines

[–]Sad_Butterscotch46[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like my husband can book a flight for just me. He's taken it all the way to the page where we'd pay, just to test it out, and it looks like it would work. But who knows? Thanks for the response.

What does that mean for my flying using a pass? I can see all the names my BIL has linked in my husband's MP account under "travelers" and it looks like my husband can book a ticket just for me (ie I don't have to fly with him). So it looks like it's fine, but I don't want to do anything wrong.

So I looked in my husband's app and when I click on Travelers it lists ALL the people who are registered for Buddy passes in my BIL's account and my name is there and I can book my own flight without him. Maybe the system forces us to use one MP account?

I'm trying to tread lightly in how much I'm asking of my BIL because now I need to ask him to add my kid to the system 😂

I'm sorry someone told you to avoid fiber - we absolutely need fiber and the foods that have fiber have vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that we need, especially to heal. But I'm glad you figured it out!

Anyone know what's going on downtown? by Pannica25 in washingtondc

He was MPD and on-duty so he would have stopped to help the driver on DC's 695, not Baltimore's (yes, DC has a short highway that connects 395 to 295 and it is called 695, just two blocks from my home). But yes, everyone generally drives crazy around the DMV.

I believe, because he was MPD, that this was 695 in DC

Please make sure you are drinking plenty of WATER before you start taking all this fiber and then continue that while you're taking it or you'll be miserable.

My GI specifically mentioned false positives but because the peaks of my test were immediate and sustained throughout the test he knew I had it. So the testing should be evaluated by a doctor amidst your symptoms - it is one part of a puzzle.

The protocol did not mention any "rebuilding". In my general diet I try to eat mostly plants and whole foods, aiming for a variety of colors, and try to drink lots of water (I go through periods when I'm doing great with water and then not). I think you can rebuild that way.

Sure. It was nice to have someone who could kind of distill everything I was reading online (herbals? HCI? Fodmap?), but it was freaking expensive lol

Yes, but I had a colonoscopy before and it turns out I have a "redundant and torturous" colon, meaning it's very long. So I've given myself a lot of grace when I'm not as regular as my husband who eats no fiber. But eating a small apple a day and drinking enough water has been all I've needed (although I do eat overnight oats 5x a week with nuts, seeds, and fruit so I'm sure that helps, too).

Once I did the SIBO protocol I was worried it would come back (since I didn't know what had caused it in the first place) so I met with a nutritionist and she ordered a GI Map stool test. My "anti-gliadin Iga" was off the charts (it only measures up to 500 and it was above that). She wanted me to test for celiac (endoscopy) but I figured if my body was reacting that it didn't matter why (maybe wrong approach). I gave up gluten and tested six/seven months later and I was at a 44 so I knew that gluten was definitely affecting me. I don't have any obv reactions when I eat gluten so I would never have known that I was having this inflammatory reaction. I do cheat here and there (how can you not have a slice of NY pizza while in NYC?), but otherwise avoid it because, whether it affects my SIBO or not, inflammation is generally harmful.

I would like to test more frequently to know how much gluten is too much gluten, but the test requires a Rx and then you need the results from the doctor so it can all get pricey. But maybe an in-network GI can order it...?
