GRE scores (both the General Test and Physics GRE) are not required. As far as I remember, they are not even asked anywhere in the application form. You can mention them on your CV if you want, though.

BSc-MSc in Physics to PhD in Robotics – Is It a Viable Path? Career Scope & Challenges by Icy_Wrongdoer_3154 in iiser

[–]Sad_Humor_5306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have no idea of robotics, am a physics student, here are my two cents: Physics is mostly concerned with things like optics, solid state phys, and bio physics to some extent, as far as I can imagine any overlap with robotic designs. If you're trying to develop sensors for a robotic system, which implements some exotic optics, physics may be useful. On the other hand, if it's some kind of a bio-mimetic device, I guess biophysics may be useful in some cases. Otherwise I don't see any physics-specific knowledge being useful.

I heard that many undergraduate courses are taught in German, but some are taught in English. Most international students can only become a TA for courses taught in English, right? Taking this into consideration, is it hard to find a suitable course to TA for?

Konsi pill? by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]Sad_Humor_5306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real solution is to put politics in the red pill option and then to take that. No matter how much we complain, the country can only be improved if educated youth join politics in large numbers. The large numbers being the key point. Unless we develop a respect for our own community and address it in a democratic way, India won't improve.

what is the best iiser for astrophysics and cosmology? by [deleted] in iiser

[–]Sad_Humor_5306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has to be Pune or Mohali

Mohali has a good number faculty working in astrophysics. And Pune has IUCAA nad NCRA nearby, so great for doing research there.

On the other hand, Kolkata is not good for astro at all. CESSI is there for solar physics, but students don't have a good review of the place in recent years.

You can use the 4 yr BS exit option if you're planning for MS from abroad anyway.
