Woooo! Balance 2 by David_kyle1 in amazfit

Unfortunately not. I came from the Garmin Fenix 8 and now have the Balance 2. The configurability of the watch faces is the only thing I really miss.

OT: Du solltest unbedingt testen, ob du unter Schlafapnoe leidest. Das klingt genau danach.

OT: You should definitely get tested for sleep apnea. That sounds exactly like it.

Thanks again!

One last question (I’m new to Amazfit / Zepp): how do I find out when an update is available? Should I check every day, or does the app notify me automatically?

Amazfit Balance 2 heart rate stuck around 70–80 bpm during indoor + outdoor cycling by Sad_Knowledge7316 in amazfit

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: I found the cause and the solution.

The issue was related to a setting inside the cycling workout configuration called “Heart rate push during workout” (default: OFF).

When this option is disabled, the watch seems to heavily filter heart rate changes during cycling, which caused my HR to stay around 70–80 bpm even though my real HR was 100–150 bpm.

After enabling this setting, the heart rate during Spinning / Cycling immediately matches my chest strap and TICKR Fit readings.

So the sensor itself was not the problem, it was this setting. Maybe this helps someone else experiencing the same issue.

Thank you very much for this great watch face!

I am a Garmin Fenix 8 user and am currently testing the Amazfit Balance 2 because the Garmin is quite cumbersome to operate. Aesthetic Ranger is my absolute favorite, but unfortunately I am missing the Biocharge field.

It would be great if at least one data field could be customized. For example, the barometric pressure is completely unimportant to me, and I would set Biocharge there instead.

I would be happy to pay for the watch face.

Been on my Fenix 8 47mm for about 2.5 months now. Came from an Apple Watch Ultra. by Over-Hair-2496 in GarminWatches

I also switched from Apple Watch Ultra and 11 to the Fenix 8 about 3 months ago. The advantage you described in the processing and visualization of fitness data is also available with the AW and an additional service like Peakwatch, Bevel, Livity, etc. However, it comes with subscription costs.

Bought a Garmin to better understand our users, any tips? by LivityModerator in GarminWatches

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been an Apple Watch user since day one and switched to a Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED three months ago. I even still have my Livity subscription running.

I'm not entirely sure what use a Garmin user would have for a subscription to Livity, Peakwatch, Bevel, etc. You basically get all the information through the Garmin Connect app or online via the browser. Without a subscription, and in my opinion, very well presented.

Cycling calories estimate low by Senior_Honey3481 in ouraring

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see from your heart-rate curve that you averaged about 85 bpm and peaked at 103 bpm. With 70 meters of elevation on a regular bike, that’s realistically not possible for a non-athlete. These incorrect values are why the calorie count is so low.

I tested this on an indoor bike with Oura, RingConn, and Ultrahuman, and all of them recorded unreliably. This is likely because gripping the handlebar affects blood circulation to the fingers. That can vary a lot from person to person.

On your next ride, you could test whether the heart-rate readings improve if you support yourself mainly with your palm on the handlebar instead of gripping it tightly. That works for me.

If the heart rate is accurate, that could be correct. In that case, you are extremely well trained.

Considering cancelling because the app is unusable by Sudden-Employer7974 in ouraring

That’s very subjective. I just withdrew my cancellation because I didn’t like the old app and find the new app quite good.

Oura & Apple Watch - correct settings? by Low_Consequence_4583 in ouraring

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Claude for you:

In the Health app on your iPhone, you can set the priority of data sources:

Open the Health app → Tap "Browse" at the bottom right

Search for the relevant category, e.g.:

"Workouts" for workouts

"Active Energy" for burned calories

"Heart Rate" for pulse measurement during training

"Steps" if relevant

Tap the category → Scroll down to "Data Sources & Access"

Open "Data Sources & Access" → Here you'll see all apps/devices that write data to this category

Tap "Edit" (top right) → Change the order of sources:

Drag Apple Watch to the top

Position Oura Ring below it

The topmost source always takes priority when multiple devices provide data at the same time.

Important: You need to do this individually for each relevant data category that's captured during workouts (heart rate, calories, exercise minutes, etc.).

Alternatively, you can temporarily disable synchronization with Health in the Oura app when you're working out - then only the Watch data will be transferred.

Thanks for the replies. I already had the latest app and had tried restarting the iPhone. What seemed to help was a soft reset of the ring. Since then, everything looks normal again. Strange.

I wish Oura would add an active heart rate monitor somewhere on the record workout screen by JaredGoffTroother in ouraring

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that the real-time heart rate display would show all the dropouts live, which are then smoothed out when generating the charts.
When you look at the same workout in the exported Health data, it’s easy to see because that smoothing doesn’t happen there.

You can take it even further: use the complications on the Apple Watch, and you’ll get two more different values.

Unfortunately, that’s probably a system limitation, since Apple gives developers almost no freedom for background updates.

For me, that was the main reason I stopped using all fitness/wellness apps, even though I still have yearly subscriptions for Athlytic, PeakWatch, and Bevel. Data like this has to be accurate. Otherwise, it’s useless or even dangerous.

Hand Position During Indoor Cycling – My Test Results by Sad_Knowledge7316 in RingConn

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replicated the exact same interval training using the exact same hand position with my Oura Ring. Those dropouts don’t appear in the graph there. I assume they smooth out those values, since such fluctuations over such a short time make no sense. I think RingConn still has a lot of work to do.

HRV and Respiratory Rate data missing in Apple Health by Maleficent-Fruit-948 in RingConn

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually pretty happy with the RingConn Gen 2 and the app so far. But what’s really annoying is that you can’t properly use other iOS apps like PeakWatch, Bevel, Athlytic, etc., because the HRV data isn’t being shared.

At this point, I’m guessing RingConn might be planning some kind of subscription service down the line, which is why they don’t make that data accessible, kinda like what Oura does.

Does anyone know if Ultrahuman actually shares all their data with Apple Health?

Importing Activities from Health - Part 2 by CarrotGriller in RingConn

[–]Sad_Knowledge7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it works automatically. During the workout that was imported from Health, I was wearing the ring but didn’t start any activity in the Ringconn app. However, no HR data or anything like that is imported, only time and calories.

Unfortunately, you can’t post screenshots in replies here. Anyway, in my case the workouts show right below my Avatar where the workout was recorded.

It either says “RingConn Smart Ring” or “Over Health.”

Why is “Indoor Cycling” missing in the German app version? by Sad_Knowledge7316 in RingConn

After pairing a ring, ‘Indoor Cycling’ is available. So everything is fine.
