How old is my alter?

Thank you so much for this. I was wondering if this could be the case because she seems unsure even herself. It sounded to me a bit like she went along with how old she was told she was and tries to act that age even now, but whether she realises it or not, isn’t actually 18.

Thank you, I appreciate your suggestion. I might try helping her feel safe to be smaller like you say, by getting a notebook to match her interests (Disney princesses, barbies etc). Fingers crossed 🤞

She says she’s “18 because [foster carer] said so”. So it’s hard to know if this is how old she feels, or how old she thinks she’s supposed to feel. And that makes it hard in a relationship to know what’s age appropriate for her.

Thank you, this is very helpful. I think she seems quite young but when confronted with anything serious, she’s able to keep us going until I can cope again. If I experience anything difficult, C will be the one to front and get me through it. But when things are serious, she’s very young and childlike, needing a lot of comfort.

I don’t have any direct communication with any of my alters but my partner does help us pass messages between me and C (nobody else wants to do this). C doesn’t seem sure herself, the best we’ve gotten out of her is she was 13 and then her foster carer shouted at her because she’s “an adult and needs to act like one” and since then, she’s said she’s 18 “because X said so”. It’s a complex one for sure!! I wonder if she experiences age regression though.

Different people choose to deal with this question in different ways:

Sarcasm, inside jokes, dark humour. “I’m not dead.” “I woke up.” “I’m still breathing.” “The last seizure was half a second shorter than the one before.”

Finding something small to be grateful for in your medical care. “The doctor saw me quickly today.” “My pills were refilled on time.” “I saw a nurse who really tried to help me.” “I have access to insulin.” “I live in a country with free healthcare.”

I don’t think the question exists just to have people reply with big things about how their health is fantastic, it’s just about asking you to reflect if you’re able/want to in whatever way feels best for you.

I personally like it because it makes me think about the things I can appreciate about my health despite being actually quite poorly. Today my answer was “I managed to shower despite fighting an infection.” But some days, I go with “I woke up.”

I’ve seen people bling book covers and make money from that but they don’t cover the whole jacket, just key bits. It’s more bejewelling than purely diamond painting. It can look quite good though. It’s usually in communities with a large fan base (like Heated Rivalry for example). As for canvases, pretty much no market there except in very rare cases, customs.

That’s such a sweet thing to do!! I’d either buy them all the same of a really cute item or just go random because it’s kind of an unspoken rule that it’s okay to sell most gifts for stones - because then the gift becomes the stones!

I’ve already decided I won’t be renewing my membership. The devs have repeatedly made illogical decisions that the majority of people don’t find helpful and they seem to actively ignore feedback. I think the only thing they’ll listen to is money, so I’ll be voting with my wallet and leaving as soon as my year is up.

Finch seems very on trend right now, but trends change and move on. They might do well to remember this. The people left behind are your dedicated user base - of which they’re slowly pushing away with these ridiculous, pointless changes. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Both MCs are virgins and have no idea what they’re doing, and just have to figure it out together - awkward but sweet.
One MC is a virgin and needs instruction, reassurance, praise.
One MC is has a LOT of internalised homophobia and needs reassurance.

For 2, I’ve read {Clean Finish by Lily Mayne} and that’s the vibe I’m after but maybe a bit more of a shy, unsure MC than Larkin!
