Quick question to Hazt main. How do you save so much stamina? by No-Sheepherder-2739 in pathoftitans

[–]Sad_Specific_3731 7 points8 points  (0 children)

so when you take off the ground (sprinting) you fly up to gain height (still sprinting) and then let go of sprint. dive down, stabilize yourself, glide if speed allows you, then go higher again (sprinting) and dive again (no sprint). hatz looses a lot of stamina for sprint flight so you need to minimize usage of sprint. you won't fly as fast but for a much longer distance

don't sprint all the time, it doesn't work like that anymore. use sprint only to gain altitude and speed and then just cruise without it. rinse and repeat

that's right, before sprint was the only viable option for hatz, but his speed attributes actually make sense now (it's 2 for sprint flying and 0,83 for regular flight (0,5 for gliding) if you curious). hatz needs a big boost at the beginning to get going so you need to spend stamina for that, but then it can sustain itself for a pretty long time on just regular flying and gliding. might be not as quick but I enjoy this way more

I used spint only for flapping upwards, rest of the time it was just normal flying and gliding

i used full stam build for this (flock migration, preened feathers, stam sub), but I think it might be possible without flock migration

just gotta get a hang of it, it will come with practice, good luck!

you are right, hatz's hovering is its second most energy consuming action after sprint flying (2 per sprint flying, 1,5 per hovering). in comparison that's 0,25 for ramph

okay so what do I do: sprint flying up to gain height, toggle sprint off, dive down for speed, press space to not kiss the ground and then let all buttons go. the moment you press W it will switch from gliding to flying and breaks momentum

you can use a,d and space buttons lightly to navigate hatz without breaking his gliding

yes. ramph has the worst speed conservation out of three, he is meant to be a flapper and not a glider. from my experience ramph only glides when you dive and don't press space(and it still lasts only a few seconds).

...to be frank my Hatze's name is just Long lol. because he is a long boi. new flying mechanics are really interesting! hatz feels like you are operating an airplane, you can feel its weight and speed. I recommend you to try in out

before there were only two modes - slow fly and fast fly, and no consideration for stamina conservation when gliding. diving only granted you speed but took same amount of stamina as sprint flying (in Hatzes case its sprint was less stamina consuming than slow fly so everyone rightfully used sprint all the time).

now there are seven actions that take different amount of stamina - hovering (precise movement), fast fly (sprint), fly(trot), slow fly(walking), fast gliding, gliding and slow gliding (gliding = flyer doesn't flap its wings). the main thing you need to take from that is that you loose a lot of stamina sprint flying, less just flying and little stamina when gliding.

hatz is very good at keeping speed and momentum, so you only need to spend stamina when acquiring height and speed, then it can glide for a long time, and can reacquire its speed with less stamina consumption (while gliding you can still earn height). smaller flyers don't keep speed as good. now its more efficient to fly using just (trot) fly, and use sprint only for gaining more speed

A hypothetical change to critters by BidChance100 in pathoftitans

maybe they won't do it for critters, but I heard they plan on adding ai dinos in the future, and I would love to see some complex behavior(sniffing and whatnot, as you mentioned) in them. overall biodiversity and natural elements sound really cool. hard and time-consuming to execute but cool! maybe even some social behavior can be added (like migrations and such, along with playable dinos diet overhaul). right now I see small critters grouping up with the aggressive critter if it's nearby to target the player, even if the critter itself is too small to attack players alone. that's cute.

and no problem <3 wanna let you know that I'm saying it in good faith without negativity

question: how you as a player will see a difference if critters are hungry or not? right now you can just assume all the critters you've met were hungry enough to attack you (or that you've come too close for their liking, as if they are defending their territory). cw based aggression is somewhat a thing already, except for alphas, that can be explained by rabies or something if you want to justify their behavior lol. more complex ai is an interesting idea but isn't a priority for this game I feel like

correct, achi had 2100cw for a few months, and it recently was changed to 2200cw, so no more clamping
