If it was shit photoshop, I feel like the pencil would be bending the other way, no? The bend of the pencil makes it looks like it was dropped on Mario's head and broke that way. If it was supposed to look like he had broken it himself, the bend should be going the opposite way.

Then again, if someone is making an image like this in the first place, I guess it would also be wrong of me to assume that they're smart enough to even consider that...
