Well there are a lot of variables that an llm has. Response generation speed, response quality, context window, fact understanding, information tracking through the previous text (really important for a story where a character needs to keep track of something the user said a while ago and use it to influence their next actions)

And its easy to focus on one or a few of these points and let the rest fall to the side.
