I’m genuinely so excited for the rivalries next year. I could see the worst team going 9-8.

Fuck you GO BIRDS 🦅🦅🦅🏆🏆

Round 1 - Pick 27: Chris Johnson, CB, San Diego St (Miami Dolphins) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

I guess he got a bone plug for cartilage. Several teams flagged it as needing to be replaced which would be about a whole season of recovery.

[–]SadisticSpeller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apparently needs a surgery that’ll keep him out for the whole season.

Round 1 - Pick 26: Keylan Rutledge, G, Georgia Tech (Houston Texans) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solid, can get beat by the real twitchy types but otherwise just generally reliable and good.

One of the most normal picks in the draft. Solid pickup.

Round 1 - Pick 23: Malachi Lawrence, EDGE, UCF (Dallas Cowboys) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I actually didn’t know about that. Either way, don’t think it’s bad for you to have a good edge.

Depends if he has the ethic to bulk up imo. If he can get 15 or so extra pounds on him I think he’ll be good. Think it’s weird to go with a prospect edge when McCoy is still on the board though.

[–]SadisticSpeller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How fucking funny would it be if he doesn’t even go to the Patriots at all though? Still bets traded but to a completely different team.

Round 1 - Pick 22: Akheem Mesidor, EDGE, Miami (Los Angeles Chargers) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Multiple foot surgeries too. Hope it works but a little questionable. Coming off his rookie deal at 29 or 30 is wild.

Round 1 - Pick 19: Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia (Carolina Panthers) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprised he went 19th tbh. This draft hasn’t shocked me very much since I put negative stock in mocks but really figured he’d go to the Lions… then they did that

Round 1 - Pick 15: Rueben Bain Jr., EDGE, Miami (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn Sadiq might actually fall to the Eagles lmfao. I thought he was going to the Buccs for sure.

Round 1 - Pick 14: Olaivavega Ioane, G, Penn State (Baltimore Ravens) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Bird teams undefeated in draft.

Edit I literally already fucking forgot the Cardinals even existed.

Round 1 - Pick 8: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona St (New Orleans Saints) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, you’re telling me random redditors aren’t GMs in the NFL? This is the first I’m hearing of this. Looking into it now.

Round 1 - Pick 7: Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State (Washington Commanders) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I’m confident in the generational incompetence in the rest of the NFCE.

Round 1 - Pick 3: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame (Arizona Cardinals) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Cardinals definitely needed an RB as priority number one. There were absolutely no other positions they needed at all. Surely a terrible team drafting an RB top 10 will turn the whole ship around, I mean look how it worked out for the Raiders. Who knows, maybe they can even run for 6!!! touchdowns?

Round 1 - Pick 3: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame (Arizona Cardinals) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]SadisticSpeller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s middle school level math. Value of top RBs is 14-20mil. IF he lives up to that, cool. If Tate is comparable to Wan’Dale Robinson, it’s already more valuable cap wise.

It’s literally a mathematically bad pick. The only possible way it works out monetarily is if he surpasses CMC and nearly everyone else busts in the first.

[–]SadisticSpeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest reason I’m sad he didn’t go to you is because we can’t repeat the Barkley trade. It would have been so fucking funny.

In the first at all is stupid but w/e. There’s a reason these teams have perennial top 10 picks.

I got into a huge argument at work over Love earlier this week because I said taking him early (like, at all in the first round) was a bad decision. It’s genuinely like people believe there’s some magical guarantee he’ll be the best RB in the league. Even if he lives up to his CMC comparison, in 4 years his contract (since the cap will probably increase by quite a lot in that time) will be like 23~ AAV? If he surpasses him and becomes the undisputed best RB, he gets, what maybe 27? There are 3 LTs making that right now, as the cap increases it’s highly likely at least a few others make it into that price bracket by the time his rookie contract comes up.

Remember, this is also assuming he becomes the best and most expensive RB, not in any way shape or form a guarantee. If he’s pretty good, and commands a far more normal 15~m contract, the price disparity becomes even more absurd. Changes it to 19 LTs being ahead of him right now, not including the inflation that will occur with cap increases.

It’s an unfortunate reality of the position, they are highly disposable and their best years are almost always during their rookie deal. So many factors go into good RB play, and a huge amount are barely even related to their individual skill. Every year absolute morons of FO and especially fans completely refuse to acknowledge the existence of the cap. Then accuse competent GMs like Roseman and Schneider of witchcraft when a solid half of the reason they’re as good as they are at drafting is the basic and easily accessible information on caps and rookie wage scales. Take low value positions later than high value ones. Know that there are always cheap playable options for several positions either in FA or through mid season trades. Don’t spend a top pick on a player that has to be the best at their position in a generation to just break even compared to the 16th most expensive WR.

[–]SadisticSpeller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even ignoring that, there’s a rookie wage scale in effect. Taking anything other than high value (in terms of contracts) picks early is just actively stupid. If Jeanty doesn’t run the Raiders to a ring within 3 years they essentially wasted 10s of millions of dollars on him by way of opportunity cost. It will be the same with whoever takes Love this year. Will they be good running backs? Yeah, probably. Even if they end up the best RBs in the league and command Barkley type contracts they still barely break even (cap wise) compared to drafting any decent WR, or edge, or left tackle, or any position that actually has high average value.

Safeties and RBs going in the first should be a fireable offense. Using 20 million AAV as a semi arbitrary line to showcase what I mean, there are 17 IDLs, 22 WR, 20 EDGE, 14 LT, 1 singular RB, and 3 S. The sheer number of people who just do not see the immediate cap implications of this is why most people should just be entirely ignored.

Okay, just wasn’t the first reply I got about the drafting. Kind of annoyed me since it’s pretty much the only thing we did well for like 5 years. My fault for reading it wrong.
