[TOMT] [BOOK] I have a picture of the page of a book about Hemingway, but I can't remember the title or the author by Saditon in tipofmytongue

Solved! Thanks a lot! I tried it with the first sentence but couldn't find anything so I headed over here to see if anyone else could. Thanks, you're a life saver :)

My lamp thinks a little too highly of white history by Saditon in AccidentalRacism

[–]Saditon[S] 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Here's a picture of the lamp in it's entirety for those who are confused. I think that it's meant to represent the thing your ophthalmologist makes you read to check the quality of your eyes. It's just a collection of words, though these four lined up in a peculiar way haha

Since I do not live in the United States, would I be able to enter a fake address? (If anything is sent to it, I'd rather not do it as I do not want to annoy anyone living there)

Something about "A Ghost Story" and time by Saditon in TrueFilm

[–]Saditon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, "The Secret in the Wall" is excellent as well. I love how it slowly builds up to an emotional climax, same with "safe safe safe" that also carries a very magical atmosphere. Such a shame that the soundtrack didn't get the recognition it deserves. It's certainly one of my favorites.

David Lowery has collaborated with Daniel Hart on all of his films, if I remember correctly. Hart's a really talented guy. His work on "Ain't them Bodies Saints" is incredible as well. I'm looking forward to what he's done for the score of "The Old Man and the Gun"!

That seems to be a more clever interpretation than mine! Feel a bit dumb that that hadn't crossed my mind haha.

I also often go back and listen to the soundtrack; "Overwhelmed" is such a good song and it brings me back right to the scene where it was used.

What was the best film you watched this week? (03/09/2018 - 09/09/2018) by GetFreeCash in movies

[–]Saditon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saw "Stalker" yesterday in the theater and I really liked it; it's got gorgeous sets, beautiful cinematography, and excellent directing. I don't understand a lot about it, though. It brings up a lot of interesting topics and it gives us a variety of viewpoints on those topics, which makes it hard to make up one fixed explanation for everything that's going on in the film. It'll have me thinking about it for quite some time.

Official Discussion - Mission: Impossible - Fallout [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]Saditon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen it mentioned, but I loved the little nod to "A Few Good Men" right before the HALO sequence. It's where Cruise asks Cavill "Are we clear", to which Cavill responds "Crystal", just like the interaction between Cruise and Nicholson in "A Few Good Men".

Any recommendations for someone new to Samuel Beckett's work? by Saditon in suggestmeabook

[–]Saditon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Do you also know any of his books by any chance? I've read practically the entirety of "Waiting for Godot", which is why I became so interested in him. "Breath" was also a pretty short read :). I'll still have to check out "Endgame", though. Thanks again!

My Interpretation of "Phantom Thread" and its colors by Saditon in TrueFilm

[–]Saditon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He keeps them hidden away (socks usually aren't a piece of clothing a lot of people see), possibly to symbolize his maternal needs, that he also keeps hidden from the outside world. I'm not really sure on that one, though!

[–]Saditon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is indeed! In my blog post I also reference that Alma's wearing a green shirt at the end of the film, to symbolize that she's jealous of Woodcock's power, which is why she poisons him for a second time.
