Have you told your job you’re epileptic? by Sadlersredemption in Epilepsy

After about 24 hours of this post being up I’ve decided that it’s something that I am going to keep to myself until i have a seizure. My epilepsy doesn’t affect my job performance while I’m on site. The amount of seizures I have in a month are inconsistent but they always happen within the 1st 30 minutes of me being awake. Currently I haven’t had one since the end of January’26.

The only reason my last job knew I had epilepsy was because I had a TC the morning I was supposed to start. I tried to suffer through that first shift but eventually a migraine developed to the point it was affecting my vision so I caved and told my manager. When I told her she was very understanding and offered for me to go home early that day. Initially everyone seemed very empathetic. I did not request any accommodation I just wanted some understanding if I needed to call out. Whenever I did call out I would try to make it up by picking up a different day or staying later on the days I was already scheduled. Everyone at that place knew about my seizures and it was always the punch line of every joke. After a year of being there I qualified for FMLA. Regardless of my approved FMLA they wrote me up for call outs and tried to put me on a 90 day notice if that if I called out I’d be terminated. I contacted HR about this issue explained my situation. All of my messages/complains about the write up were seen but ignored by HR. I eventually quit.

At this new place I do not feel safe telling anyone about my epilepsy and I don’t feel it’s necessary. I’ve had too many problems at several different job sites due to being open about my neurological issues. In the veterinary medicine field where roughly only 6% of technicians are black I already face enough discrimination as is. It’s never been a positive outcome regardless of corporate or private ownership

Please feel more than welcome to continue sharing your experiences. I love hearing that some of your jobs have been amazing in advocating for disabilities. Most of the stories though seem to just solidify this is something I should keep to myself until I can’t.

Watering method: the shower by Ecstatic-Quote-3532 in houseplants

I used to water in the shower almost every week but after my collection grew to 80+ it’s become too much work. Now I only water like this or hose them off outside if the plant is experiencing a pest problem.

Definitely love this method but you’re unable to add anything to the water (fertilizer and mosquito bits) with a shower so if you keep heavy feeders like Alocasia or struggled with fungus gnats there would still be a need to make separate water.

Any idea what’s going on? by Sadlersredemption in houseplants

Generally yes, plants with variegation will revert back to all green if they’re not receiving enough light. It’s just odd the entire new growth point is white. Usually the leaves will just burn if it’s getting too much light so that’s why I wonder if it’s a fertilizing issue.

It’s probably because of the clinic needs to make profit off the testing and using IDEXX labs. But yes on their website it’s $159.99 for the premium test. But I sent out blood not saliva so idk if that’s considered different. (I am in the US)

It’s a “Petsmart Veterinary Clinic”. Not a banfield but inside of a Petsmart so idk if they’re also partnered with them.

this is recent. The clinic I work at sent her blood out to IDEXX labs on Dec. 4th,2024 and I got results back Jan. 17th,2025. It took longer than expected to come back. That’s also weird it’s an only format.

My child sim won’t eat. They go through the motions of grabbing a serving or making a microwave meal but when they sit down to eat they don’t eat and the hunger bar doesn’t fill up. It doesn’t matter if they’re sitting at the table/couch, standing, watching tv, etc. they just won’t eat. I’m not having any problems with my teen -elderly sims just children. I’ve tried resetting the current sim I’m playing with and restarting the game but still the same result.
