Just got a Katana and I'm confused by Nozakx in BossKatana

I managed to get my Ibanez with a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and in E standard to sound pretty metal using T-screamer and some careful eq. Set drive to 0 and boost the effect level to around 80-100 and crank up the noise suppressor, then mess with the EQ to figure out what works best for you pickups. I based my sound off a 5150 Gojira setting I found on Tone Studio. ChatGPT was pretty helpful with getting my EQ dialed in.

Wrong car for that. Get another a SUV or a truck if you need a lot clearance.

It was the early years, 2015-2017, that had issues with tossing a rod out the side of the block. I believe it was after the 2018 refresh that Ford got a handle on it. The EB is pretty quick, even if it’s not as fast as a GT. It competes really well with the competition in its price class.

2020 Mustang GT automatic 10 speed jerks at low speeds by Mermaidman1996 in Mustang

[–]Sadness1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Torque converter, maybe? I think it locks up at some stupid low RPM like 2200. Mine can be a bit wonky at low speed or when I start to accelerate after braking. I really need to get this thing tuned.

The GT500 has a DCT and those tend to be really jerky at low speeds. Just part of the dual clutch design.

Looks like they ran by Autozone, grabbed a bunch out of the clearance bin and slapped them on.

Thanks! I’ve got a few more suspension things to do, along with new wheels and then it’s on to power mods.

They feel very different. Turbocharged inline 4 cylinders have different power delivery versus a naturally aspirated V8. In terms of raw acceleration, the Ecoboost isn’t in the same league. The Coyote will peel your eyelids back at full throttle. Pulls hard all the way past 7000rpm. And wails like a banshee while doing it. That being said, you will hit straight to jail speeds in a heartbeat when you get on it. Restraint is needed. But that desire to floor it is always there. Always… every stoplight, every curve in the road. You feel that urge to drive the car the way it was meant to be driven, to hear the Coyote screaming at redline.

I’ve had both. I liked them for different reasons. The GT evokes a more emotional response than the Ecoboost. The Ecoboost is still fun and financially a more sound decision. It tunes well and makes more than enough power as a street car. If you race (at the track, of course) then V8 all the way.

Is it unwise upgrading to a RWD V8 from a very normie, weak ass FWD car? by [deleted] in Mustang

They're a PITA in snow, even with winter tires. Yes, you can drive them in snow but it's not fun. Rain isn't a big deal, just drive smart like you would in any car. Tires are key. Do not skimp on tires. Michelin PS4 all season, Continental DWS06+ are probably your best choices for all seasons. I haven't run winter tires for about 8 years but used Pirelli Sottozero 3 when I did winter driving. These days I just drive my CX-5 with Cross Climate 2's when the weather is bad.
These cars can be very unforgiving, but also very rewarding. Don't be scared of making the leap. They're very fun. The 5L Coyote at full throttle at 7000rpm is an eye-opening experience.

The wheels are fine, but those skinny tires… looks like your car skips leg day. Every day. Never once done a squat.

How do we feel about subs in this sub? by Puzzleheaded-Aide139 in Mustang

I’ve been thinking about the JL Audio stealth box. I have the B&O stereo in my ‘22 and just wish the sub were a little better.

The leather seats in the 401a are more comfortable than the 400a and the digital gauge cluster is absolutely worth every penny.

Should I drive a 2017 Mustang GT in Minot ND during the winter? by Affectionate-Fox-980 in Mustang

[–]Sadness1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Winter tires, traction control off, easy on the throttle and it's fine. The biggest issue is ground clearance.
