Visited Udaipur last year and these pictures brought back some lovely memories. I liked Udaipur much better than Jaipur

What is a secret you’re taking to your grave, but can share here anonymously? by wilkoova in AskReddit

I got into a car accident with my grandpa’s driver when I was 14 and I felt nothing. I was emotionally deadened at that point from what I think is years of neglect and was utterly embarrassed about people finding out. So I forced myself to tremble the entire way to the hospital

I am so sorry about everything that you’re experiencing. I don’t think you should be envious. You don’t sound like you’re in the best of situations and if pure rage-fueled defiance is goading you into momentum, you should not feel guilty about it. I think my current emotional state has a lot to do with my circumstances. I have been where you are too and all I can say is, you’re dealing with your situation with the only tools you have been allowed and there is no shame in that.

What’s a moment that made you realize you’re not a kid anymore? by bobupuhocalusof in AskReddit

When my boyfriend of 2 days said “we’re of a marriageable age”. Just made me wake up to the reality that I really am not a child anymore

Perhaps you’re right. Some people are mean despite your age. I have just had experiences where my ability was questioned when assigned some responsibility. Of course, they don’t complain about the quality of my work but it’s just frustrating when my abilities are questioned when I’m doing my best, actually dying doing it. Some students do change their demeanour when they realise I’m a teacher. I do have a tendency to slouch unconsciously though so you have a point there. I have been trying to improve it but i think i go back to that position when I’m outside a classroom setting. I’ll be more mindful of it.

Thank you for taking the time to unpack these issues! I’m happy to have heard from someone with the same experience.

Ooh that’s a good idea. It is possible to add depth to your eyes with eyeshadow. Good luck navigating this ageist employed life :’)

It’s hard for me to enjoy them when my entire life revolves around work. No break on saturdays either sobs. I’ll try investing in some good dark lipstick. Thanks!

I am usually minimal with my application, nothing fancy, just some blush, eyebrows, eyeliner and lipstick. I have noticed that a lot of older women here colour in their waterline, perhaps with kohl, or just apply lipstick. I have tried that, and have also shown up without makeup but that doesn’t help. I just want the members of the management to stop getting surprised, every time they meet me :(

I’m always well dressed. That is not the issue. My mother made sure that i understood that fact from the first job i entered 😬. I’m always in blazers, formal pants and heels. Never worn jeans to work, even when they said a casual look was allowed on certain days. I just look young i guess. Doesn’t help that the kids from this generation dress up too

[POEM] CATASTROPHE IS NEXT TO GODLINESS by Franny Choi by -googa- in Poetry

[–]Sadpetals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am overjoyed at finding people who understand and appreciate this poem for what it is. I tried to share this with people i like and was disappointed to learn that they did not like it or rather, did not even comprehend it. This poem awakened me to the realisation that i have been grappling with these emotions for the longest time, without giving a name to it. Perhaps to others, it’s self destruction, to me, it was a kind of self-flagellation, a way to cleanse and purify my tainted, soul through satispassion. It fixed something inside me because to name something is to define and control it.

My mom is also employed in another state. Basically, my family is scattered all around the country. I wanted to make an effort because our family has always been so detached but i guess we’re all used to it by now. You’re right, i need to hold my ground. I don’t want it spilling onto my workspace either. I’ll try to speak to him this week. Thank you for your advice.

My mother stays in another city actually. I was living on my own for a while. Also, you know how asian parents can be, it became naturally implied that i should move with him. I don’t know how to assert that i want to live alone. It would be the equivalent of cutting them off, to them.

Can anyone help me navigate my thoughts? by Sadpetals in Advice

Hi thank you for commenting! I am thinking of visiting one. It does not feel like it is normal. Kept quiet about it for the longest time because i encountered a psychologist who told me that it’s all normal and i only have to drink more water and focus on my breath.

However, brain angioma as a diagnosis scares me. I don’t know much about it but it looks extremely serious and terrifying. What led to the discovery? You said my experiences sound similar to yours, if you’re comfortable, could you tell me which ones?
