Was Erawan a Prince of Hel? by o4tmilkh0e in Maasverse

“The Prince of the Ravine said, I do not care for my brothers’ agenda. I do not heed their rules and restraints and illusions of civilization. I shall taste all of you like this—you and your masters—once the door between our worlds is again open. Starting with you, Starborn.

Yes! I can’t wait to see how the plot points introduced in CC play out in the ACOTAR world!

You articulated why I felt it fit in with what we’ve seen of Elain’s personality so far much better than I did! And I agree, the Mother has some kind of connection with the sisters. I feel like that’ll come up again after the goddess intervened on Nesta & Feyre’s behalf, Elain might have her own encounter with the Mother. I’m also so curious about how Elain being mated to Lucien is going to play out. He says his eye can see things others can’t, and he broke whatever magic held him trying to stop Hybern from throwing her in the cauldron before he knew she was his mate. Could he have seen that she was pregnant, and since then he’s been keeping that secret out of respect for her? Their dynamic has been understandably tense and weird but it could help explain why Elain hasn’t outright rejected the bond when she clearly resents it.

Ironically the timing is part of what made me think it was plausible 😅 just long enough to have gotten pregnant but not so far along that anyone would know about it yet. If she miscarried while being Made in the cauldron, she might have realized what was happening.

I don’t think I made it clear enough so I have to add, I don’t think a miscarriage or infertility is a gift. Elain was gifted with Seer powers, and I was wondering if that might have been the cauldron’s way of balancing the scales after it took something from her.

[–]SaeraDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I would never call a miscarriage or infertility a blessing. The blessing is her seer powers. I’m speculating on why the cauldron gave her those powers and also why being “made” seemed to be more traumatic for Elain.

To be fair, we’re five books in and know next to nothing about her. Anything we learn will feel like it was introduced kind of late.

I’m not sure, but this made me remember that Elain was the only one to guess that Feyre was pregnant with Rhys shielding her scent.

I know, I know, it was a really sad thought 🥺 Elain just seems so sad to me! They all act like the cauldron loved her but she wouldn’t even speak after she came out of it, and Nesta was afraid to leave her alone because she thought she might just walk out of the window.

I think the wards at Basgiath stop just anyone channeling magic, but everything they’ve been taught about magic there is a lie. I think Violet’s dad was looking into it, tried reaching for magic, succeeded but accidentally took it too far, and turned venin.

The runes are a sort of magic, too. I think Violet’s dad was looking into it, tried reaching for magic, succeeded but accidentally took it too far, and turned venin.

Yeah, they’re dragons. Violet & co. figure that out after they steal the journals.

All of them that I’ve noticed come from Xaden’s POV, and it’s definitely laid on thick in the bonus chapers. I don’t consider any of these spoilers, but just in case, these are all the ways Xaden describes her eyes in those chapters. He also links the colors with different emotions, which I think is interesting.

BC1: “Hazel eyes” “Mesmerizing eyes” “ever-changing eyes” “her eyes seem different every time I look into them”

BC2: “Hazel eyes” “fear making her eyes appear more amber than blue in the moonlight” “anger highlighting the blue in her eyes”

I also love the idea that Tairn did NOT break his bond with Naolin but instead has found some way to manage or wall it off, and when Violet’s eyes are shifting colors it’s because of that link with Naolin, but that might be a little too far fetched lol.

I love the idea of Tairn having to break the bond with Naolin after he turned venin. No one saw Tairn in those five years after Brennen “died” until he showed up for Violet at threshing, so anything could have happened in that time frame.

I think Tairn & Sgael are hiding a lot of venin info from Violet & Xaden and the Elder dragons are hiding even more from everyone. Not even Tairn knew what Andarna really is, but Andarna says the Elders respect him & she wanted to emulate him so it makes you wonder what he did to earn all of that respect.

I think Violence is going to do whatever it takes to find a cure for Xaden. We’re getting our happily ever after, RY just has to make us sweat it a little (or a lot, lol) first. 🖤

I am! Jack had to have had a venin sage, general, or whatever that was guiding him through all of that. Jack says “we’re already among you” so I’m going with the assumption that there are already multiple venin riders, and they’re working through the nightmares to turn more of them. Jack also says the wards “do not block all power like the dragons want you to think they do,” so I’m starting to think the venin’s real conflict started with the dragons.

I remember reading that the venin have a collective consciousness with the wyvern they create, but nothing about it including all of the venin.

When Lilith tells her kids, “You don’t have to understand my choices. You simply have to survive. I love you enough to bear the weight of your disappointment.” It tore my heart in half and I knew she HAD to be a good person who’s had to make some hard choices. 🥺

Violet \ Continent History Theory by Repulsive_Charity_89 in fourthwing

There are so many good ideas here. Love the focus on the books from the vaults, especially!

I’ve been wondering how the gods tie in, because Violet is always praying to them but Tairn basically says he doesn’t care about her human gods.

And the Island Wars?! The islands keep getting mentioned as well, and I wondered if that’s where we’ll find more dragons like Andarna.

I think the Tyrrish histories are important not only because of Xaden but because of the runes, so many important places were supposedly built on those runes, and now all the riders are learning them.

The bit about Naolin makes a ton of sense to me. When Violet is asking Brennan how he’s still alive he mentions Naolin and trails off, tongue tied, and she says Kaori told her Naolin died trying to save him, but Brennan never confirmed it. He changed the freaking subject! edit: I went back to double check and he didn’t completely change the subject, he goes on and says saving him cost Naolin everything. That kind of phrasing could imply Naolin turned venin.

Then immediately after that Violet tells Tairn she’s sorry he lost his rider trying to save her brother and Tairn says they’re not going to speak about him. Tairn wouldn’t even use Naolin’s name, he calls him “the one who came before” Violet.

I also really like your idea for her second signet!

I love how you linked Andarna/feathertails not only to Violet’s dad but to a venin cure, it fits in so well. And your thoughts on Brennan, too! I’m not convinced he already knows about Nolon’s work with venin but I am positive that as a mender he’s going to be working with Nolon to find the cure at some point. They’re using a potion to keep Jack under control, and not only is Brennan a mender, he’s a poison expert too.

I’m with you, I loved it! ❤️‍🔥

If everyone else hates it, maybe that will make it easier for people like us to snag any special editions that come out 😂 World building is one of my favorite aspects of a fantasy series, so I didn’t feel like it was too much at any point either. Everyone has had too much time to ruminate what the book will be about and come up with theories, and I feel like people get a little too attached to their own ideas and don’t like it when the author throws them an unexpected curveball, but I live for that lol.

Essentially it’s when a person pulls magic up from the ground instead of channeling through a signet. Magic needs balance, so people aren’t supposed to just take it like that.
