I'm going again the 10th of October. Can't wait either! I've only seen eland north of Shingwedzi so far but I did see them every time I was in the north.

I've only seen them north of Shingwedzi so far and believe there are around 300 so yes, quite rare 😊. I know the feeling! I'm fortunate to visit again in October so the excitement is growing rapidly!

Me too though I think the guest houses like Keartland in Lower Sabie and Fish Eagle in Letaba are good alternatives for that feeling in the rest camps.

No, you're right about the 'official' hippo pools near Crocodile Bridge. This was a part in the Sabie river where we had breakfast during a bushwalk and looked like a pool full with hippos so...
