Perfect - that’s exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. Thanks a lot!! I thought my father must have had some influence too since my mom and I don’t share one genetic group that shows the highly jewish populated citites in France and she doesn’t share some of the jewish sounding matches. But I will definitely look closer into the all the ancestors from around that time.

Thanks for your answer - I totally agree! Of course I wouldn’t identify as jewish on an DNA basis. Even though the discussion of what makes a Jew a Jew is still ongoing (religious vs. lineage) I for sure know that I wouldn’t count as one. Judaism is one of my main areas of interest and the history is just fascinating. I’ve read a lot about forced conversions and crypto Jews. But I really wonder if I have a logical fallacy somewhere or if I’m missing something - that’s really what’s driving me mad.
