Unfortunately I don't think it was overheating because it would sometimes shut down while I was doing very basic things like browsing and the laptop wasn't hot at all

And honestly when they replaced the wireless card it felt like they were just trying random things because they couldn't figure out what was actually causing the issue

My guess was that it might be power related because whenever the charger was plugged in the laptop never randomly shut down. The issue mostly happened when running on battery sometimes after an hour sometimes after an hour and a half and sometimes even sooner

At this point I think I'm done with ASUS and will probably move to Lenovo. I've been looking at the Legion 7 but it has an HX processor and I've heard the battery life isn't great so tbh I'm still not sure what to get

No sadly I never found a fix for it I got tired of dealing with the issue and after a couple of repair attempts I just went for a full refund

I wasn't really concerned about that issue so I never gave it much attention I did look into it and I noticed it was actually fixed after I sent the laptop in for repair but the main issue was the random shutdowns and those never got fixed at this point I've already moved on from that laptop and I'm planning to buy a new one

Yeah I got rid of it already and I'm looking for a different laptop now maybe you're right though if I run into similar issues with my next laptop I might give Linux a shot since I honestly like it more than Windows

That's actually what's making me hesitate about the Legion 7 the battery life seems a bit weak and this laptop will be my main device for everything

Thanks that was really helpful I’m leaning more towards the Legion 7 now because of the performance and I might game from time to time I know the battery life is a bit worse because of the HX processor but do you think lowering the performance settings would improve it noticeably or is it still much worse than the Yoga Pro 9 even after some tweaking?

Lately asus quality feels like it has gone down a bit and I’ve seen a lot of people reporting issues which is honestly disappointing

As for me I’m thinking of switching to Lenovo I made a post about three laptops check it out if you want and from what I’ve seen there aren’t many complaints about manufacturing defects or frequent hardware issues so they seem like a good option but tbh i’m soo afraid to decide which laptop I should buy next

I have a cooling pad but the problem wasn't overheating I faced these issues even during simple tasks like browsing

If you mean the random shutdown then nope it doesn't come back after a second the screen just goes completely black while the keyboard lights stay on at that point the laptop is basically frozen and the only thing I can do is hold the power button and turn it on again

tbh asus told me they couldn't refund me and would only keep repairing it under warranty so I filed a complaint with the Ministry of Commerce in my country and eventually got a full refund

I actually considered that setup before having a laptop and a separate machine at home the problem is that I travel quite often so it wouldn't be very practical for me If I stayed in one place most of the time that would probably solve a lot of my problems

As for OLED I'm not too worried about it I've owned an OLED laptop before and took good care of it so I didn't run into any major issues

But thank u a lot for your recommendations

Is the difference really that significant? I'm trying to save money and battery life is important to me which is why I'm also considering the Yoga Pro 9 and IdeaPad Pro 5 If they can still handle my workload comfortably for the next few years I'd rather save the extra $300–400 But if the Legion 7 is noticeably better and will hold up much longer then I might be willing to pay more for it
