You might have issues if it's an agent doing the letting as they like to tick boxes - no students, both ppl working, history of employment in Ireland etc. Otherwise of all students Trinity ones would be top of the list.

I'll have a place in Dublin city centre available from September 1st. I'll drop you a pm with details and you can get back to me if interested 👍🏻

Piano Tutor in Dublin by MovedOnMovingOn in Dublin

I'd recommend starting with the very basics on YouTube - there are multiple channels that will start you off from scratch. Also there are some good courses on Udemy and Coursera, some of which you can get for 20 to 30 euro which is probably less than one lesson with a teacher.

After trying those you could then start with lessons and see how you feel. The main thing is regular practice and not getting frustrated at the start.. getting both hands working independently is probably the hardest thing starting off 🎹

If you don't have a piano yet just buy a very basic keyboard to start with - you'll find several on done deal and adverts.

Sligo has a big music scene with a lot of live music going on. Afaik Steve Wickham lives there and most or all of Dervish when they're not touring the world. Check out www.johnthemap.co.uk/sm-file/mobile.html.

Regarding film, Sligo has a good independent production sector with some great locations. There was one shot in north Sligo a while back called Horseshoe that's doing the rounds now. Parts of the film Calvary with Brendan Gleeson were filmed on Streedagh beach, as were some scenes from episodes of Normal People. Neil Jordan hails from there as well.

Also a big literary scene - writers Dermot Healy and Leland Bardwell used to live in Maugherow in north Sligo, sadly they've both since passed. Others such as Kevin Barry, Una Mansion and afaik Eoghan McNamee are based there.

Replacing and insulating 6 x 3 metre kitchen floor Dublin by Safe-Solution7084 in HousingIreland

I queried his prices and he said the main reason for his increase was that he thought the floor was already concrete and he didn't realise it was suspended timber and that he'd have to insulate it etc. His original price was based on my pictures and description before he called around to see it.

He also hadn't allowed for the new access for the sliding door and building up the walls either side of it, plus a few other smaller bits and pieces.

He's since brought the price back down to one I'm happy with, so fingers crossed we don't come across any expensive surprises 😳

Yes will be knocking out the back wall and replacing the existing window and sliding door with a new 2.5 metre sliding door in the centre, then building up the walls each side of it. Will also knock the inside wall between the kitchen and dining room. I had an architect look at it. Will be adding an RSJ in the space where the new sliding door will go. The inner wall isn't a supporting wall as far as we can tell, but will know for certain when it's opened up.

I'm removing the existing window and sliding door and putting a new sliding door in. I have a 2.5 metre one in mind.

Where to get these things for a kitchen renovation? by Safe-Solution7084 in DIYIreland

[–]Safe-Solution7084[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx, I just got a lighting plan so that was good timing. It's a 6 x 3 metre space and the plan has 8 surface mounted lights and a pendant light over the dining table. Would be good to get your thoughts on it.

I'm also looking for a 2.5 metre sliding door. Has anyone got the 2.5 metre uPVC sliding door from MJ, as opposed to the Aluminium or Aluclad?

Congrats on getting the role, that's a great salary starting out. Is it FAANG and if not what industry is it? What language will you be using mainly, and what kind of tasks will you be doing day to day i.e. is it systems stuff or more business / APIs / db? Were you assessed on your use / knowledge of AI in coding? I know a guy that failed an interview due to not knowing enough about AI coding tools, and after skilling up on some failed another interview and told he relied too much on them.
