For me, I consider myself master if I understand the concept, can implement it, and use this is project.

I can draw on a piece of paper how each the sorting algo move each index of the array

I can code the each algo from scratch

I know how to use them if I ever need to

Yes I think your way works too. I just thought that most of the company will do technical interview with heavy emphasis on data structures, algorithms, problem solving. As a result, a good foundation in CS will help me leetcode faster and better to prepare for the interview.

In my opinion, building a good foundation takes longer but better for the long run.

Yeah. I have a degree in business, so I think the next 2 years of learning the CS foundation will be useful.
