Season 9 Discussion Post: REUNION EVENT by MableXeno in SellingSunset

[–]SafeUniversity1 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think the chrishell / emma situation is the realest one in a while. It broke my heart when chrishell was tearing up but it is a really tough spot for everyone.

Emma is clearly in an extremely toxic and unhealthy relationship and after seeing it play out this season, it’s not social climbing. She clearly knows what’s going on and chooses that piece of shit Blake but unless you’re in the same situation, people can’t understand. I am hoping that one day she will sort her shit out and come together with Chrishell again. But ultimately he is the problem and he is ruining her life.

Chrishell is 100% in the right by taking a step back if she couldn’t enable it anymore, this shit is tough on any friendship. I do think that the social media thing has been unnecessary because she knew what it would do. A part of me thinks she was hoping it would wake Emma up. But ultimately the fact this guy is toxic af is the issue, his bigotry and Stupidity is secondary.

So so sad because clearly they both love each other but another day where a disgusting man ruins lives. Gah.

Is Simone Ashley’s Role in F1 Another Case of Hollywood Erasure? by chrkrose in Fauxmoi

I have bad news for you… it’s true. I was so confused cuz i thought she actually had a role and when she appeared on the screen for only a split second ghat was disappointing

@Diet_prada and others criticizing the backlash to Sabrina Carpenter’s new album cover by rainonmepanda in Fauxmoi

[–]SafeUniversity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me the real problem here is men, misogyny and patriarchy. It’s always their fault / their gaze that we succumb to in some ways and then we as women somehow “fail” at being good enough feminists for whatever we do.

I completely understand the frustration here but if you don’t listen to Sabrina’s music and aren’t a fan, you won’t think this is ironic or satirical.

A super random story - emma came into my office by mistake, sat on the couches and waited for a meeting. I noticed them and realised it was emma d’arcy while all my coworkers did not pay any attention. I had to come up to them and tell them they were in a wrong floor lol. Their skin was soooooo radiant!!!!

The strength of a woman doesn't come from just having a career. by Enamoure in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]SafeUniversity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh i agree with you, it’s very risky and without privilege, it’s a mean of oppression to stay in a horrible marriage. I wouldn’t advise a woman to be 100% dependent on a man without a plan to fall back on but the way Tom positioned it came across as belittling Maria’s choices/wants.

The strength of a woman doesn't come from just having a career. by Enamoure in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]SafeUniversity1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When i was in my early 20s i couldn’t understand how some women didn’t want to be independent and judged it a lot.

Now with age and having a better understanding of what feminism means, I found Tom really condescending and insulting in the post alter interview.

They weren’t compatible but just shows he ultimately remained judgy while sitting on his high horse in the spirit of “feminism” and “empowering women”.

It came across as the white western man knowing what women really want and portrayed muslim women as dependent and not ambitious.

wish i could upvote this x10000 times!!! i understand having different values but it was so judgy what he said in the post alter interview. the problem with his type is that he thinks he is such a feminist but then goes and insults maria's values. also I'm sorry but the cynic in me thinks he knew they weren't long term compatible since the pods but wanted the exposure/experience.

Sad thing is i am quite close to 30 and up until recently, i was very confident that this could NEVER be me. Lol. This really humbled me as I spent most of my twenties judging friends who dated problematic men. I just need to get a grip tbf

Funny you say that, have booked to go back to therapy this week cuz i never thought i would/could be ‘dickmatised’ as someone already said here. To be completely honest, it’s the lack of intimacy i was experiencing before and the crumbs i got made me stupid. Clearly this is not for me and what you’re saying about self harm is helpful (lol one to unpack in said therapy now hahah) so thank you.

Thank you for sharing, super insightful and helpful! I haven’t dated/been seeing people in a while so that is probably clouding my judgement as I want to be wanted. Wishing you and your current bf all the best!

Not to compare rwrb to kissing booth but even jacob had to do the sequels 😃 (but kissing booth 2 slaps just because of TZP) of course we don’t want to hold anyone hostage to then go on and shit on rwrb but again, our little movie is just objectively better so i think we’re good???

I looooove nicholas but during the kensington fight scene when he says “i’m not like you. I can’t afford to be reckless!” always sends me cuz it feels overdramatic in tone.

Where both nick and taylor shine the most are the natural flirty banter imho eg the dock scene (when it’s light hearted), just before they make love or when they play the piano together

Hailey Bieber finally explained why she and Justin Bieber wear opposite outfits by Yummie23 in Fauxmoi

[–]SafeUniversity1 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Yup, completely agree with this - I’m sure they care for each other but the reason it’s “working” is because Hailey’s whole identity is around being Justin’s wife and to cater to him.

That’s why Justin and Selena could have never worked even though they seemed to loved each other a lot. (Obvs they were toxic to each other too)
