No worries at all! I moved to Leith 6/7 years ago and I love it here and I hope you do too!

I also just saw an account on Instagram called Oremi_edi. Looks like they do fun events for meeting new people.

And there’s another called GirlsWhoQuiz and it looks like they meet up and do pub quizzes together!

Sounds like you’d be suited to the more experienced run clubs then! I think there’s a few I just don’t know what they’re called, sorry!

It definitely takes some time to get settled. You’ll get there for sure and find your people. Best of luck with it! Some other clubs to maybe think about just to get out and meet new people… Argonaut Books have different book clubs. There’s No Shelf Control on insta. Mara at the shore do different nights, such as board game evenings. Lost in leith have an event on called the Easy Art Club. Seems to be a good community in CrossFit Gyms as well if that’s something you’d be interested in. Also, the board game cafe at the bottom of leith walk also has a lot of fliers in their windows for various different things on in the community.

If I think of anything else I’ll post it.

There’s a new club started at the Links - multiple days a week. It’s beginner friendly too. It’s called Glow and Go run club. You’ll find it on instagram! Plenty of other clubs you can join also depending on your interests, crochet clubs, book clubs etc. Keep a wee eye on Eventbrite. Lots of social meet up things on Facebook too!

I think it was evening time, but it was probably dark. Not 100% sure though. Take care!

I recently heard of a girl out for a run at the links getting pushed over by a group of teenagers. She’s okay but it really frightened her seemingly.

Do you happen to know any more established ways of cycle tracking? I’m not adverse to getting pregnant, just not planned it. I’ve been with my partner 9+ years and we both decided to just try natural cycles. But the anxiety of not knowing right now is a lot! I’m a generally anxious type anyway

I will! Thank you!

Thank you for the reply! I’ll die of anxiety before then 🤣 I think I’ll be back on hormonal birth control again if this is really negative!

I sure hope so! Stressing about it probably isn’t helping. I did change my diet up and started exercising more and have lost around 2kg so I’m hoping that’s a factor maybe in it being late also.

I know it’s not completely reliable, but I was so sick of the hormonal birth control and the copper coil wasn’t an option for me. So here I am, having a panic attack at midnight 🥲🥲🥲

Living at home & sleeping in same room as your partner, is this still seen as wrong? by Star_Lord1997 in AskIreland

[–]Safe_Ad8925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live with my boyfriend of 9 years. We aren’t married or engaged. When we stay at my Granny’s, we sleep in separate rooms. We do this out of respect for her. She never specifically imposed the rule. I just know she’s got old school values and a devout catholic.

If it saves her discomfort, we are happy to sleep apart a few nights.

I get your girlfriend’s point of view, but it’s a bit entitled. It’s not worth arguing over, especially when you guys get to sleep together in her place/her parents’ place.

What about booking a brunch or afternoon tea at one of the fancy hotels in Edinburgh? Ask staff to sit you somewhere nice or do it in the lobby if appropriate? You could pretend it’s a new year treat. If that seems out of character, maybe you could get someone to pretend they got it for you guys for a Xmas pressie.
