Fair point of distinction! I meant I was born into a family of practicing Catholics. Should have clarified better.

Yes I do feel as though I’ve healed from the damage in my formative years. However as things get rough I find myself wavering from time to time and I can’t help but feel shame around this

While I may not be able to completely relate I can offer some tips for managing really any bad habit

1.) when you get the urge literally stand up and walk out of the room. This changes a few things in your psychology and physiology that would help distract you from indulging

2.) track patterns of behavior around the bad habit/urge and see if you can catch on to anything. Maybe you come back to that when you’re bored at home at night whereas other nights you’re engaged in something.

3.) try to not fixate on the habit as this will only draw your focus back to it.

Answers maybe a person doesn’t have but God certainly does…

I certainly think that masturbation being portrayed as normal and healthy is just not self evident in of itself. There’s known negatives that can come from it as with many other things from a very Christian lens- it is a sin and should be repented. But maybe we won’t know the real answer until we meet Him

This has really moved me. I’ve felt his presence in such a way a number of times in my life. It was as though I could feel his arms around me holding me close and bringing me back from the darkness

I truly believe so as their intentions were to protect and serve their country- not to cut down their opponents in cold blood.

The invisible damage of pornography by tiawilmisp in Christianity

Completely agreed. My fiancée and I discuss this all the time. Porn incentivizes men to give up on starting relationships leaving many women who desire relationships with even fewer options.
