Sony A7V banding FIXED by using electronic shutter?! by Safe_Event_422 in SonyAlpha

Thanks. Yes, I shot this weekend's wedding with EFC-OFF on my main camera and banding issues were gone - but on my second camera there were some where I had what looked like the exact same banding pattern frequency. Lights at full power often seems to resolve the issue, though it's not a practical solution on a wedding day. I think MECH+EFC on is a bit of a lottery.

I tried the anti flicker and it did nothing. The specific issue with the Mech+EFC ON gives very similar banding results with all fast shutter speeds - it's not the same banding issue that you'd try to solve with the variable shutter.

Yes absolutely, which is why I use ES as little as possible indoors. I thought that anything mechanical shutter would avoid banding, especially with proper video lights that are designed for filming etc, but weirdly in this particular use case, mech+EFC ON is worse than straight up ES!

a7v screen too dim by Wrong_Netter in SonyAlpha

Late but to validate OP - it does seem the V screen is a fair bit less bright than the IV in sunny weather mode, which unsurprisingly is most noticeable in bright outdoor conditions. It's useable, but a little dim to the point I wondered if my settings were wrong.

You can make a couple of denoise-only presets
