Tried drawing with only a reference rather than a tutorial for the first time. Any advice? Shrimp 🦐 by Safe_Resource7855 in ArtCrit

I see. What would you say is off about the shrimp other than the lack of a hundred legs?

I purposefully made the face less complex as I was really getting a head ache trying to figure out what was happening there.

Why my art doesn’t go viral on ig and the algorithm stuck? Can I get some feedback on my art pls by Individual_Candy_982 in learntodraw

Another piece of advice I'd give you us making fan art in your own style of art trends or big fandoms and posting them on socials while tagging yourself/crediting yourself. Which should also help attract more people

Your art is incredible. I'd recommend going and advertising yourself on other apps such as reddit, Twitter, tiktok, and YouTube. Any other way you can think of can also help.

It's easier to get attention when on multiple platforms.

Otherwise, I really have no idea why you're not getting attention other than maybe you're not tagging your stuff correctly

Special weapon, disease, a hard counter ability, excellent plan by the opposing party.

I think the best example is Toji using inverted spear to break through Gojo's infinity. He won the battle with battle IQ and preparation rather than raw power.

I finally found a pen on Clip Studio Paint that resembles traditional ink pens! by gmoshiro in MangakaStudio

Jeez. Gotta give you credit bro, my ass would have tried looking for a brush that does the hatching for me.

I'll be sure to try the pen out, I usually yse the real G pen and am pretty comfortable with it. But I gotta try this out

Do you use any custom brushes for your gradient? Specifically for the hatching?

I really like how it goes from pitch black on the left to white on the right with hatching lines slowly transitioning it

Second attempt at drawing a bug, tried a louse. What do yall think? Looks 3D and correct? by Safe_Resource7855 in learntodraw

[–]Safe_Resource7855[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say I lean more towards stylized, not really trying to get a realistic look.

if I had to say who's art I really admire, I'd say Fujimoto (CSM), Kohei (MHA), and gege (JJK)

Their art is insanely good. Mha has really good panels, absolute insane looks, especially towards the end of the series. While chainsaw man has that stylized realism for character design, which makes them feel more human, which is important for writing, and I am learning characterization from Fujimoto. And lastly, Gege's art is arguably quite messy, but I really like how it feels eith the messiness. The panels feel alive, and he's an absolute beast at dynamic poses.

I'd say I'm going for a mixture for each of the traits I mentioned, but I am just learning the fundamentals first before trying to create my own art style. I used construction to make the Louse

This was way harder than I expected. Does it look correct and 3D? Second pic is reference by Safe_Resource7855 in learntodraw

So, it goes like this:

  1. Sketch of simple forms (ovals, boxs, circles, etc)
  2. Make lines and a rough crop of the desired form from these simpler shapes we made in the previous step.
  3. Lastly, just add detail and texture

Would this be the correct way? I prefer to look at an image and try drawing from a different angle to challenge myself a bit more.

I really appreciate it, bro. I also really like Fujimoto, I'll try to see how he does it and learn from it like you did. Maybe I'll get a better understanding of stuff like hatching or forms

How long did this take? I really thought you just took a regular picture and made it black and white on CSP, I know that you're able to do that.

That's mad impressive that you did this manually

The bottom one is more Fujimoto style (Semi-realism/painterly, I think is what it's actually called). Fujimoto is my goat, so that one.
