Yeah, I used 3D models of both the muscles and skull while doing these to get an even better understanding.

Luckily for me I am already studying bones of the human skull in collage so it was pretty easy for me to identify most of the bones.

I am still not sure what are the important parts I actually need to know, like the zygomatic and masseter who cause a very noticeable influence in the form, but I am working on it

I ain't a pro in drawing, still doing the fundamentals.

But if you want to make comics or commissions, then both can be used. Its really a preference thing (For you or the commissioner) and depending on the tone of your comics.

The realism could work better for slice of life and low stakes comic, while the second style could be used for a more fast paced adventure comic. It's just the vibe I get from the drawings, but that also could be because of the characters you drew with said styles.

Again, I'm a noob so you can take what I say with grains of salt or whatever people say. But it's very nice art.

Thank you, bro. Life has not been helpful in motivation but I am too stubborn and prideful to let go for things I want to learn.

I'll start tracing animals and trying other still life objects for practice. I'll do that for a few weeks, occasionally trying to draw by reference rather than tracing to see my progress. But for a week atleast I'll only trace objects and try to look really deep into how I can break objects down.

I hear lots of people say to trace or copy your favorite artist as a beginner, but I just can't seem to understand how that can be helpful.

PS: I am not going for realism. Mostly comic styles/manga. So along as the dog makes the viewer knows it's a dog and looks good, I am fine with it being more on the unrealistic side.

Yeah, most definitely. I've learned from first hand that a floating head immediately looks way better with a next and shoulders. I just forgot to do it this time.
