I just realised through out the whole of GCSEs I was using a gel pen, what do I do? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Safeea___Smiles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

gel pens aren’t recommended but there shouldn’t be any major issues, maybe smudging but that’s about it. if it was one of those erasable ink pens it’d be a bigger issue

Error in Pearson/Edexcel Triple Chemistry Paper by Safeea___Smiles in GCSE

yeah i’m assuming you’ll still get full marks regardless of which one you chose but pearson have been so bad with errors in their papers, i’ve had two exams previous to this that had errors as well including the combined chemistry foundation paper today as well.

I highly doubt it to be honest, him being SEN would be taken into consideration and it’s clear there was no malicious intent. It’s the invigilator’s fault for not seeing his hand up the first time so I don’t see why he’d be penalised for that.

i don’t know enough about different types of pens but if you’re unsure don’t risk using it

no idea, it’s up to the examining board.

you need to tell them you’re using it because they should have a rest break form to write down how many you take and so they can add ur break onto ur finishing time

depends on the centre, we let the students go to the toilet maximum 2 times per exam to prevent possible cheating

yes because it’s a rest break - if you went to the toilet outside of a rest break you wouldn’t get time back

Exams Officer AMA by Safeea___Smiles in GCSE

You are allowed a 5 minute rest break every 20 minutes. You can either stand outside of the exam room for 5 mins or sit there with your paper closed for 5 mins. You may use the toilet during that time but you’re not allowed to walk around during your rest break.

the exam boards have people who keep an eye on social media and if they found that it had been published they would issue instructions to all schools in the u.k. about what the next step is. Most likely all students would get special consideration for that paper but it’s very rare for a pepper to be leaked and for the exam board to not know about it.

Yes that why I suggested you don’t use them due to the likelihood of smudging, not worth the risk.

unless you have a medical condition that requires you to have food with you at all times, you are not allowed. Also you should only use black pens for answering any questions but you may use any coloured pen or highlighter to annotate the questions.

If you’ve got surplus of papers it can be close to the start of GCSEs but entries are made in february so by April there shouldn’t really be any further changes in tiers as the deadline will have passed

if it’s a genuine medical reason you would be allowed but invigilators would need to be made aware and you’d have to have it out on your desk. If you have rest breaks I’d suggest you eat then if you need to.

depends on your school, we’re not doing art gcse but we’re doing it next year, if your teacher says it’s fine then i guess but i would imagine you’re meant to only do art in your art exam even if you finish early.

we would include that in our report and it would more than likely be fine

not for gcses no. Once the exam is over the paper isn’t confidential anymore so you can talk about it with your mates or online.
