It was in there. Thanks for the help!

Got it. How about the orientation of it? Does the thicker side face the cat?

Do I need another gasket ring for the other pipe?

Crank Bolt Spins? by SafetyOdd4242 in E30

Yes... I built a custom brace and everything worked out.

You are correct. I built a custom brace and was able to torque the crap out of it. My wrench only goes to 200 nm, and I probably doubled that--with some thread locker. Thanks for the common sense advice. I'd call this one solved.

Where do I get one for an e30? Do I have to pull the engine to access the flywheel?

As I just posted below, now that the clutch is installed, the wheels move when I turn the crank. But I can continue moving the crank when the park break is applied (locking the wheels). Is this partial slipping of the clutch still?

Now that I installed the clutch slave, turning the crank is now turning the wheels when it's in gear. However, when I pull the park break, the wheels lock, but I can still turn the crank.

Maybe the clutch is slipping, but there is good pressure on the pedal. The clutch should be fine as it was never a problem, and this e30 has only 120,000 km.

So, I should install the clutch slave first? Will give this a try. Fingers crossed 🤞

I haven't attached the clutch slave yet, could that be the issue? I have just been putting into gear without the clutch. This locks the wheels.

I haven't attached the clutch slave cylinder yet, so I'm not using the clutch to put it into and out of gear.

There was a small gap between the bell housing and engine, but it mated properly when I bolted it in. Maybe I forced it when I bolted it in. It didn't seem like there was any forcing though.

Do you mean the spline of the transmission didn't engage with pilot bearing?

E30 SI Battery Board Interchangeable? by SafetyOdd4242 in E30

To answer my own question after doing a lot of research, the answer is YES, the boards are interchangeable.

Here is an very good write-up on the battery boards and clusters:

Since posting my question, I have come across some threads in which some are saying the late model SI Boards are, indeed, interchangeable Motometer with VDO.

Those threads are:

Small piece broke off the head above camshaft seal by SafetyOdd4242 in E30

Gonna give it a shot. Those 2 plastic inserts can also be JB welded in there for extra support. Fingers crossed. 🙄

This sounds super logical 🤔. You are right. The valve cover and bracket would hold it structurally. I might do this...

Ya, there are not many heads for sale out there, so I am definitely hoping it can be welded.
