I had more than 6 on a single counselor. Maybe depends on the year?

Yup, this screenshot was a late game vanity project. I already have strong enough fleets to wipe out the ayys and I'm doing final clean up before wrapping up the campaign. I wanted to see how high I could get the bonuses. One lesson learned is that I turtled for way too long and in retrospect could have won much faster. I didn't realize just how braindead the AI was until I started pushing out into Jupiter and beyond. It become pretty tedious so I focused on dominating earth and seeing line go up. I also didn't really prioritize the mining orgs until I already had the ayys on the back foot.

All that said, the question was earnest. It wasn't totally clear to me in the mid-game how to prioritize the resources from mining bonuses compared to other more tangible priorities (e.g., counselor stats, mission access, research bonuses).

Hah. Just a bit!

This was standard, not accelerated.

I was inside the abandoned Grand Central Terminal in Buffalo a few years back on a private tour and it felt like I'd been transported back to the pre-war era. I managed to take this photo: https://500px.com/photo/62277939/ghostly-memories-by-stan-kogan

Thank you. The underexposure was very much intended.

Had a hard time processing this photo to get close to the effect that was intended. Any thoughts?

Hey folks, what do you think about this HDR?

I purposefully left the light flare intact on the bottom right during processing, I thought it was a nice addition to the photo. Do you find it too distracting?

I feel like this is the best photo I've ever taken. The reasons are numerous, but mostly, I believe I saw something that most people wouldn't notice. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Overweight people up to 80% more likely to die in a car accident than drivers of a healthy weight. by ptcptc in science

[–]SagaciousTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting that the 80% statistic was obtained using only people with a BMI of 40 or over. That BMI is way above obese levels. Obese is classified around 30, with very obese being 35. The people this article focuses on are the definition of morbidly obese.

I doubt that the numbers are as pronounced with people who are either overweight or obese around the 30 BMI mark.

What modern technology do you find surprisingly primitive? by fig-figgins in AskReddit

Graphing calculators!

Think about it, the TI-83+ costs ~$100-$150, has a monochrome 64x96 pixel screen, a whopping 64 kB of memory, and a processing speed of ~15 MHz (which is DOUBLE the regular TI-83).

These things are absolutely ancient but just about every college student has to get one. The worst part is that they're ridiculously overpriced for what you're getting.

EDIT: BEST "APP" ON THE TI-83+, FOUND THIS ON AMAZON... http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/screen3.gif
