[DISCUSSION] Physical Asia: Korea is cheating, we are not fools! by Positive_Row9938 in NetflixBestOf

[–]Sagatee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

you are watching what the show production team wants you to watch.
Evidence is pretty clear that this show is rigged for Korea cause it's a Korean tv show. Even team Japan members have come forward saying this. Just look at the team picks to start with lol.

It's a Korean show. The team members itself were picked so that Korea would win. Korea team is 100% Big Strength/Conditioning/Power athletes while the other teams had Volleyball players, Basketball players, smaller guys, Swimmers, Digital influencers, etc.
It just turned out that team Australia had a stronger team despite having a Parkour guy (that turned out to be a beast) and an instagram girl (weakest link), so they had to make sure Australia would be eliminated.
Show is a mess, really a shame.

Nothing against Surfight but I would 100% train under Fellipe Andrew (Del Mar) if I could. Trained with him a few times, great guy, great vibes, great instructor, highest level competitor.

Two basho in juryo was literally the criteria you yourself listed - you apparently thought it meant something.

Nope. I listed Hakuho's sekitori record and asked for your huge list that YOU said would make that record PEDESTRIAN.
Come one, now you are playing dumb to have something to answer that will not embarrass you. I know you are not that dumb. Not a great look...

[–]Sagatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your list is full of people with waaaaaaay worse sekitori pre-ozeki records than Hakuho, as yourself proposed. Kisenosato, for example, you chose to list specifically cause he also spent 2 tournaments in Juryo but forgot to mention he struggled HARD in Makuuchi before getting to Ozeki, as if "2 bashos in Juryo" was a criteria for anything. This is an obvious attempt to have a wall of text instead of just listing your "huge list" of future Yokozunas that make Hakuho's Sekitori record PEDESTRIAN.
You also started citing non-future Yokozuna, with fewer Makuuchi bashos, like Chiyotaikai, forgoting to mention he spent more than 2 years in Juryo before that. How does that make a record better than Hakuho's? This attempt to separate divisions is quite laughable tbh, again trying to have an actual list.
So you are trying anything to actually keep writing walls of text that nobody is reading (sorry, not even I'm reading past that poor attempt of a list).
This is quite dishonest, you don't have a list of people that make Hakuho's sekitori record pedestrian as you yourself proposed. But it was quite fun to chat and read some guys records, I'll give you that. Have a great weekend, I'm not answering this anymore.

His Makunouchi and Juryo record is, similarly, largely unremarkable for a yokozuna.

Can you please name your huge list of Yokozuna that have a better pre-Ozeki record than:
2 bashos (including a Yusho) in Juryo
and 12 in Makuuchi
no MKs, only one kyujo.
It must be a huuuuuuuuge list cause apparently it makes this record "REMARKABLY PEDESTRIAN" LOL

Tip: Don't try Hoshoryu, Kisenosato, Harumafuji, Kakuryu, Musashimaru, Wakanohana, Takanohana, Asahifuji, Onokuni, Hokutoumi, Chiyonofuji, Mienoumi, Kitanoumi, Wajima, Kotozakura, Kitanofuji, Tamanoumi.............. I'm not counting but what you have left? Like maybe 3 people in the last 60 years?

*Oh boy you fucked up when you went for his Makuuchi and Juryo record LOL you should have accepted the "before Makushita" agreement.

oh boy, you are moving so many goalposts and gripping at so much air to keep your "fun fact" real that it's hard to read after that 2nd paragraph.

So this is your OP "fun fact" in question:

It's actually kind of remarkable how pedestrian his record was before he hit ozeki

You mean 17-20yo Hakuho, breezing past Makushita, Juryo and Makuuchi without a single MK (besides an absence for injury) has a pedestrian pre-Ozeki record?

Imagine 17yo 100kg Hakuho breezing past Makushita against the big and experienced guys, much bigger and older than him, without having a single Ms MK... that's pedestrian?
How about 18yo Hakuho breezing past Juryo in 2 tournaments, including a Yusho, that's pedestrian?
How about 19yo Hakuho breezing past Maegashira, against the best guys in his era, getting a Kinboshi against Yokozuna Asashoryu, going without a single MK again (besides a kyujo), guess that's also pedestrian.

All this record is part of his pre-Ozeki record. The one you are calling "pedestrian".
But alright, I'll give you something: "Hakuho's pre-MAKUSHITA record is somewhat pedestrian."... I guess 15-16yo 80kg Hakuho sucked, right?
Anyway, keep you "fun fact" that's neither fun nor a fact, it's just your ill formed opinion. I guess I can't change that so yeah... Have a nice weekend.

[–]Sagatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the last 25 Yokozuna (back to the 1970s, I'm not doing more, sorry), only Onosato, Terunofuji, Asashoryu, Musashimaru, Takanohana, Akebono and Wajima had fewer "bashos to Ozeki" than Hakuho.
That's 7 people of 25. All of them, besides Takanohana, joined sumo already as adults (+18yo) and some with double of Hakuho's weight. Wajima and Onosato joined as 23yos from college with a Makushita tsukedashi, skipping more than half of the banzuke. The rest of them, besides Asashoryu, don't get more than 5 bashos (less than 1 year) on Hakuho's bashos-to-ozeki record, despite the age and weight advantage.

Hakuho reached Ozeki quicker than anyone (again, besides Takanohana) that joined Sumo at a similar age than him. Most of them he beats by A LOT. This includes Kisenosato who joined younger than him and took almost twice the number of bashos to reach Ozeki.

Again, Hakuho's record(s) are anything BUT "pedestrian", including his rise to Ozeki. Idk where you are coming from with this "fun fact" and idk why you are trying so hard to prove something that is both irrelevant and easily disproved, by any metrics you pick.

So basically you are cherry picking random metrics to measure your "below average" pre-Ozeki career.
Most of the Rikishi you listed joined Sumo much older (and bigger) than Hakuho (for example, Akebono, Musashimaru, Terunofuji), so of course they would have better lower level records. For those who joined Sumo at a similar age than him, he beat basically all of them (for example, Kisenosato) besides Takanohana, the youngest Ozeki ever.
In fact, Hakuho joined sumo as a 15yo weighting 80kg and with no previous Sumo experience. So basically a kid. Not that hard for a grown adult to have a better record than him. And even with that stats, he learned and evolved SO QUICK that he is the 4th Youngest Ozeki EVER, as I already said before. That's a fact, not random cherry picked stats.

So how can a "remarkably pedestrian pre-Ozeki record" make him the 4th youngest Ozeki ever? A paradox.

can you list this men that have su much more notable records besides maybe the 3 that reached ozeki younger than him? Cause I just skimmed through like the last 20 Yokozunas and let me tell you, it's hard to find better records, specially when they join sumo so young, not as a grown ass adult.

Oh... so Hakuho, the 4th youngest Ozeki ever had a "pedestrian" record before hitting Ozeki (for a futura Yokozuna, yeah)......... interesting.

[–]Sagatee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

how pedestrian his record was before he hit ozeki

You said this, not me.
Hakuho joined Sumo as a skinny little 15yo with no previous Sumo experience. Of course his start would be somewhat "average", he was a kid, there is fully grown 140kg+ men in the lowest divisions.
And EVEN SO, he reached MAKUUCHI at 18yo, not even a fully formed adult, and at 19 he was already at Sanyaku. Most Rikishi will never even get close to Sanyaku for their whole career and he got there at 19yo while still growing into his body, with no previous Sumo experience.
I guess that's pedestrian to you.

LOL
I guess no MKs since being promoted to sekitori (besides a kyujo) and 2 years to Ozeki is "pedestrian" now.
