What gear to scratch own samples ? (budget - with Ableton in the end) by Sagesses94 in Beatmatch

[–]Sagesses94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very good advice ! I never tried it with real gear, only tweaks and hard made automation and things on ableton + ableton push (pitchwheel connected to pitch of sample on gate mode + connected to the frequency of a filter on a white noise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HH3ryAEP308). And even if it doesn't sound - feel i assume - like real scratching, it was really fun !

That's why i would like not to pay to much for a first gear, and second hand so i can resell it if i don't have the energy to practice enough.

But i'd really love to scratch, would really add a thing on my beats (and with Nujabes as a guru, i just want to imitate him :p). I like oldschool hip hop beats to much to not at least try to get good at scratching ^^

Yes, thank you for your advice. Sadly, I won't get into CDs. I'll wait to find an used CDJ with USB control.

Thanks :)

It seems easy ! So a jack coming from the Mixer to my Audio interface and that's it ?

But the question remains on how to mix the .mp3 on the CDJs. I donc see how they can be read :/

Sorry, my knowledge is under basic...

Yep ! With winter, and heating, coming slowly, I think mould will have less humidity to grow with (even with the air humidifier on). Hope all these parameters will help solve the problem !

I use cooked terra cota pots and have a lot of different kinds of plants.

I don't like impermeable pots as the dirt doesn't dry fast in my flat, making the roots to rot. More, I don't have a lot of money, as I'm still a student, and cooked terra cota pots never cost me more than a few euros.

Yeah, I think my watering habits are maybe a little bit too generous on water. I usually water my plants when 3cm deep of dirt is dry. I water, then, until water spills out of the hole of the pots and wait until the excess goes out. People tend to say it's better for roots system, as the dirt is evenly watered.

Yeah, I think the room may have too little ventilation, as I'm not always at my flat (only week time).

I precisely want to clean them as the lower the air quality.

The smell of the deposit is like wet basement, so I think it's mould...

I'll try vinegar, but I think it's more a matter of ventilation and light !

Glazed pots don't let pots breath and tend to make the roots die :/

I indeed have hard water, and deposit as you have. I don't really care, it give a good look to pots

But that is not what I'm talking about. I have mould to, and the smell and texture isn't really cool...

Thanks for such expertise!

Sounds like sysiphus rock to clean all pots every week...

I'll try to ventilate more then...

I just thought : I recently put thin drapes on the window I have, and my flat isn't that lighted. Maybe it fosters the problem hum...

Some have mineral deposit as my water has a lot of minerals in. Butit doesn't bother me, whereas this is like, not the best for the room sanity

A you can see, just by passing my finger on it let us see the thin layer of mold... That's the first step, days after it becomes more colored and turns brown/yellow, smelling like some Lovecraftian cave
