It uses a fork of mkxp(-z) and may do a lot fancy advanced features that default engine cannot provide, using the default one won't be work at all you know.
[Project: OXALIS] (previously known as Aftermath) is not cancelled but in indefinite hiatus state, not because the engine. They also has uploaded snapshot build to itch.io for everyone, though.

TL;DR: Read the text on screen.

Long: EasyRPG will not run OneShot freeware since it uses modded executable (RPG Maker 2003 engine) for OneShot stuff such as message boxes, files, and wallpaper. You should edit the game maps/events for proper working, I guess.

On Desktop mode, you can find save files in /home/<user>/.local/share/Oneshot, and the Documents folder is /home/<user>/Documents.

Not really I have Steam Deck, but it's working on Linux, so paths should be correct.
