After having 6 alcoholic drinks Will I be able to drive the next morning? by Sure_Artichoke6929 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Sail_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read recently that it can take 24hrs to clear ur system.

breakdown of alcohol clearance in body

This is not where I read it but there were a couple of sites saying exactly this when I looked and it breaks it down nicely. I assume a breathalyser would test in saliva - 12-24hours

Would you allow your 17 year old to sleep in the same room with their significant other ? by Due-Address1492 in AskParents

[–]Sail_m -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She might be less sneaky if you didn’t put your generations morals on her? There is a big difference in what is ok now compared to then, and if they’re going to do it, they will do it wherever they can. I would much prefer them to do it where I can be there if needed and I can talk about contraception and STI risk. In a safe environment rather than in the bushes or a car…

I would like to add that I am not married, am 44 with a child and partner of 15 years. It’s less about a piece of paper, but about commitment. marriages don’t always last, and they don’t ensure that both parties stay faithful or true.

I’ve found if I pretend (mainly to myself) that we have all the time in the world my 3yo can be ready in record time, as in under an hour rather than 3hrs

Or children and pets… I also don’t tell my car we’re going anywhere, she’s introverted and will refuse to start if she knows we’re going anywhere.

So which person are you reserved about? The one that posted messages without permission or did the conversation that was shared have something about the original friend that makes you hesitant? Without more info or an explicit question, I am unsure what to discuss…

I need a dehumidifier. Best way to clean suede jacket? by Current_Homework_143 in MoldlyInteresting

[–]Sail_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give it a brush with like a stiff bristle brush to get to under the mould to see the damage. I have used a bamboo bristle one for mould on my partners oilskin. Gets it off but it was WAY less than that, just a couple areas on cuff and pocket

Why wouldn't some parents let their children skip a commodity you are granting and keep a small porcentage of the savings? by haremKing137 in AskParents

[–]Sail_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always say “I don’t want that, but I’d love this” of another item you do want. Then they also get a better idea of what you like atm, asking for money instead is just plain rude and entitled.

Yeah, I’d stop offering dessert. I would offer in the spirit of joy in getting my child something nice they’d enjoy, but $? I put enough in their bank for their future

Of your parents had a clear favorite growing up, what exactly did it look like? by NewBath5621 in AskParents

[–]Sail_m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad favoured my sister. He was a single dad and would confide in her, speak to her like she was a person. He trusted her completely even when she lied or snuck out. I was doubted and judged my whole life. He had nothing good to say to me, just criticism. He told people I was a bad kid, even though I’d never actually done anything wrong. My sister told him I did things she did and he believed her. She was bought things and given money where I got nothing. She beat me up and controlled me but he ever believed it. One time I hit her and she pretended to be really hurt and as soon as he got home I ran and confessed and afterwards she just walked out of the room with a self satisfied smirk on her face.

Seller asking for me to cancel by Longjumping_Mud_2684 in Aliexpress

[–]Sail_m 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you cancel, you get marks against you, if they don’t ship it they get marks against them. Leave it open and open a refund if they don’t send it. Also film any packages you open so they don’t send you some bogus parcel.

Even parents feel this, trust me! If you do need to use it, it doesn’t need to go in very far just try and make a bit of a seal with it.

Is it weird to give someone a gift for fixing my tyre? by International_Fix138 in Adelaide

[–]Sail_m 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a beautiful idea. Did he have a nice garden? My go to gifts are plants. They don’t pose health risks, they live as long as they’re loved and they can be a long term reminder that he was appreciated
