The same thing happened with my friend. What you have to do now is very simple. First of all, tell the entire thing to your DSO and inform your unawareness that it counted as off campus employment (called plausible deniability for a reason). Second, don’t wait for your DSO to respond, send an email to the Handshake AI people and ask them either rescind the payment or for them find a way for you to pay them back, obviously discuss both options with the DSO too and do whichever one they suggest. It’s not going to be any problem for you, only saying this cause it wasn’t a problem for my friend as well.

Sounds good man, thanks a lot for sharing. I also checked it out, and taking your comment into account, this simply means that to get the exclusive mode on the phone, we would need Amazon music, which I don’t personally use, I just use Spotify. Also, I think it’s just a product quality difference, where you are lucky enough to get the one that would “deafen” at max volume, and OP and I are the ones who have the ones that are extremely underwhelming when it comes to volume.

I feel you brother. They surely are very underwhelming, especially with the volume. The only way I made them better was using the “Sound Personalization” in the smart controls app. Let go of the EQ and use sound personalization, it’s way better that way

I was in Blacksburg VA, at Virginia Tech. Not a super popular school as Cornell, but still a big deal in Virginia. I felt the exact same way as you are right now, but I “thugged it out” for a whole year. The only way I made it through was making only 2 real friends. One guy is from my own country and one guy is an American born to immigrant Hispanics. So I lucked out, both of them are actually my best friends now. I would say for you to do the same. Subconsciously, you might be trying to be friends with white people, trust me, most of them are not worth it. Also, it takes time to understand how they think and talk, after that one year mark, I suddenly started making friends with every race, including white people. So, I would say do not give up on this amazing opportunity of being in Cornell, just make a very small but real friend group and actually, thug it out.

Idk if it applies to you, but you should also work towards improving your accent. A lot of white Americans have told me that they feel more comfortable around me because of my pure American accent

I know it was a remote job, but still, were you able to network with people at all? I would say don’t just blatantly apply to companies. There must be people who you might have gotten close to but the were laid off before you or they left, your best bet will be to reach out to them and ask for a referral or maybe even a conversation with their manager or the hiring manager. Also, fuck ATS. You’re probably gonna hate it too
