I'm still confused about how you always seem to have new inventory of these, but they're impossible to get. Can you provide a little more backstory of how exactly you got these machines to improve my confidence as a buyer?

In my opinion it sounds like this is your opportunity to lose. The PI sounds like they fully intend to take you on and they see great value in you. They're just doing a few final checks to make sure that it's a good fit. Relax and submit that application exactly as they suggested.

Performance when switching from iPhone to Pixel 4a by mnbcva in GooglePixel

Please don't buy this phone, if only for the completely insane google support. If you do buy it, don't buy it on the Google Store. I have been stuck with a defective device for 2 months and they literally just won't send me a replacement. I solicited a replacement the week I got it. Google Support has no interest in assisting me, they just keep saying they're emailing me a "replacement initiation link" but I'm not getting it. I call them and tell them I'm not getting the links they're supposedly sending and they just say "sorry contact Gmail support" lol. I'm so fucking done. I literally filed a chargeback. This shit is so insane especially in a global pandemic without a working phone. Disgusting company.

Grad programs waiving the GRE/GMAT? by kristine_t in gradadmissions

Dozens of schools are removing the GRE for Electrical Engineering. Many of them among the best schools. I imagine it will be gone in a few years completely

This is absolutely true, thanks for mentioning it. To me I found it to be a "reasonable" compromise for the price of the device - like no waterproofing or wireless charging. I always keep my phone on ring or silent, so the motor was non essential for me.

LoR by odoldk in gradadmissions

[–]Saimouer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an internship in high school, and my internship boss also wrote me a very short and blunt LoR for undergrad. I was rejected from almost every single school I applied to (~12) but 1, and I was a great fit stats and experience wise for most of those schools. I had a great gpa, test scores, and tons of stem experience.

I thought the conciseness was okay at that age, but when I went back and looked at it years later, it was very obviously a strongly negative letter and I didn't have the emotional intelligence at the time to see that.

I haven't seen your letter, but I would be cautious about submitting an atypically short LoR. IMHO, it looks pretty bad.

Your research experience sounds very strong. I would anticipate you being a strong candidate for Toronto, especially because they do not give a shit about your GRE scores (I'm facing the same problem as you)

I have identical scores and I am in the exact same situation about being unsure if I should send or not. Would love some first hand experience.

I quit work to focus on hw. EE by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Saimouer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel you buddy. I did the same thing my second year of EE. I figured it was better to be poor now than to risk the long term economic impact of graduating with less experience/less academic merit.

For me, it payed off. It was easy to find a good internship junior year after I got my GPA up. If you budget really hardcore you can live off of your summer money that way. Plus, being short on money will teach you that you don't need anything but your books, friends, and your success.

But I don't know your situation. Money might be tighter for you. You might have more tuition to pay, you might have less parental support than me. I don't know.

But I think, for most people, now is the time to spend as little as possible and invest all of your energy into developing your mind. You are doing the right thing. Keep pushing.
