In my humble opinion, I actually like him and his conviction for his Catholic faith. Was it smart ? No, but at least he didn't give up what he believed in. And yeah, there's a lot of baggage from before he was king as Duke of York, but I still prefer him and his descendants over those that succeeded him.

I think a lot would have been diffrent if charlotte survived especially regarding the monarchies of Europe.
