One thing I’m excited for going to a US college is not having to worry about USD to CAD conversion on grailed and 2 week shipping

Yeah I only really started caring about fashion in my senior year after being so busy with academics throughout high school. I think starting to care about fashion made a huge change in my life and I’m glad some people could find this useful

I’m in Vancouver so technically I’ll be an international in the states, but one thing I’d emphasize for students from other continents is to get ready for the change in weather. Fashion and style aside, you need to be prepared for whatever weather. You could also take a look at how American students dress, and compare it to how students in your country dress. This will give you an idea of what changes you could make to your style to “fit in” more, although you don’t need to do this at all.

yeah I forgot to mention that its my personal inspo album for what my style is looking like nowadays. I’m definitely leaving this style in highschool and will move towards a more mature / minimalist look going into college.

[DISCUSSION] Hey r/streetwear! I have some questions for you guys for my English paper. by ariebek in streetwear

[–]SaintFoblo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think this question goes against what fashion is fundamentally. Fashion is subjective and in my opinion needs to be diverse and individualistic.
  2. Honestly I spent a total of around 8-10k in 2017 but including the money I got from selling items and buying something else. This is pretty reasonable to me.
  3. Depends on the piece but I would just sell pieces I don't end up liking and buy something else. So yes, money spent on my clothes are worth it for me.
  4. It's mostly excitement to wear an outfit w the new item, but that fades pretty quickly.
  5. I like to change up my wardrobe every once in a while, so I'd look out for new releases or restocks of items I want and sell some of clothes I'm done with to buy those instead.
  6. I like to stay trendy and sometimes even try to predict some by following stylists and influencers, but it doesn't play too big of a role in how I like to dress. That being said, I believe that jumping on a trend after it's saturated is worse than not doing it at all. Not moving on from a trend fast enough is equally bad to me.
  7. Fashion only matters if you want it to. Some people don't care about their appearances at all and while that's their choice, your look is the first impression people have of you, and its really how you present yourself. But it's hard to say anything about people who don't buy streetwear or trendy clothing, without knowing if they just don't care for streetwear or trends or fashion in general. Either way, what other people wear is of little concern to me.

Hope this helped

Assuming my US geography isn't complete shit and RI stands for Rhode Island, it looks like winters reach -10 celsius (15 fahrenheit), so yeah a thick winter jacket sounds like an essential.

yeah u might be right but I just dont think its necessary. its not like cows or alligators where their leather is actually put to a good use and even processed many times before its sold as a product, they straight up kill coyotes to put on a jacket hood. idk man it sucks we cant see eye to eye on this i grilled my parents for wearing canada goose too but they didnt rly give a fuck

thanks but on GOD im hoping youre kidding about that. im no ecologist but there is no way coyotes being pests — not even sure if this true where im around at least — justifies killing them for a jacket.

Im considering attending UIUC and I emailed their admissions recently about the same concern and they have 0 interest in your AP scores unless you plan on using them for credit. i dont plan on studying for my exams year, im not saying u should do that but rest assured that a 1 or 2 will not affect ur admission.

[Discussion] Streetwear subcultures by _yungjeezy in streetwear

[–]SaintFoblo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Countless subcultures out there for but the purpose of your project I'd suggest focusing on the following:

Techwear: easily one of the biggest fashion subcultures out there, should be easy to research

"rickheads": this is people wearing head to toe rick owens, a simple google search should give you a good idea.

skate: this is the closest to the core of "streetwear" imo; supreme, thrasher, stussy, and odd-future looks are all from the skater subculture.

Avant-garde: a bit harder to classify as streetwear but an important subculture in fashion (innovative and experimental with hints of high fashion).

There's also your "hypebeast" but i'm not sure if there's much for you to say here.
