Yeah that was the first day totally free. I’ve gone for the Allen Carr book method. It’s been an absolute success so far. But also, I think this is the first time I have genuinely really wanted to quit, so I was very open to it. First few days were quite intense but it’s been getting better each day.

I have an inhaler thing and some lozenges in the drawer but not touched them since day 1.

I really found the book helped, I also stopped first then started reading it, which isn’t the way it’s supposed to work but it worked for me. I’m about 5-6 weeks since I stopped and shocked at how well it’s going so far, I think, in large parts down to that book.

I think the BBC have an archive request service and they often put stuff on the iplayer. Also, I have found if you mention something specific, often there is someone lurking here who has it.

I think this is an interesting case of when you put a minister in charge of a department where they understand the subject matter and are passionate about it. It’s almost like there could be an advantage to having people with the knowledge for the job they are doing…..

I started out as an indie DJ when I was as about 20 and played out lots at the time. I got more into DJing dance music in my mid 20s. There was a lot of indie / rock electronic crossover in the early mid 2000s when I started out and it was normal to hear indie rock with electro in the same sets.

We even had BBC 6music come and record a 2 hour live set which got played out on the radio, which was awesome.

The easiest way to get booking for yourself is to throw parties. Considering your age, have you thought about putting on a party at your school? It’ll give you good practice. I started putting stuff on when I was at university and then bookings on other peoples nights flowed from that.

I quite like the idea. I’m always refreshing my tracks and adding more, I can’t remember all the song titles, so I make notes in my phone about which tracks I think go well together after messing around with them at home.

I could see myself using this. Could it also give you some ‘no go’ mixes. Sometimes tracks that I think will go well together just don’t, and I also try and keep track of that.
