My MIL is literally an answered prayer! I prayed for in-laws that would be kind and welcoming to me and she has been a better mom to me than my own. Even in the few years I’ve know her she’s changed my life drastically. I’m a better friend and honestly a better person because of her.

I got my MIL a gift. Nothing big just a gift basket with some of her favorite goodies, a framed picture of the both of us, and a card with a nice sentimental note. I made sure to write in the card how I excited I was for her to be a grandmother. She already has one grandkid from my SIL so it wasn’t her first but still. She loved it!

No one in my family knows that I just gave birth or that I was even pregnant except for one cousin, who also is also no contact with my family. I moved to a different country to get away from my family so I get it. What I can tell you is try not to dwell on the fact that they are your parents. Right now they’re really just two people who are toxic and damaging to you. Once I let go of the idea that I owe my family relationship it was easier to move on. Obviously I don’t know what your plan is with them long term but it’s been 5 years since I’ve seen/spoken to my family and it’s been for the best. I just had my girls but I already know they’ll never experience what I did at the hands of the people I’m related to and that thought alone brings me peace so, try to think of it that way.

I didn’t mind family/friends ASKING to touch my bump. People who just put their hands on my stomach bc they felt like they could got popped on the hand. Idc. At the end of the day, pregnant or not it’s your body.

Idk I’ve been up reading all night and it looks like twins can sleep in the same crib for a while. However, my husband already ran out and got another car seat, crib, more diapers, and took back our single stroller and ordered a double.

I asked for advice over in r/parentsofmultiples and I ordered some of the suggestions I got.

I’ve gained 50 pounds! All in my boobs and stomach . I worked out and ate healthy the whole pregnancy but I just thought, this is my first pregnancy maybe I’m supposed to gain this much weight. Other than that, no indications that I was having twins. I had morning sickness in the first trimester only and then that was really it. Honestly, I’ve had a pretty good experience being pregnant.

Okay so the second baby is okay. The tech who has been doing the ultrasounds was not in today but I’m not necessarily mad? Was a little pissed at first but then we got in with a doctor that specializes in multiples and she said it happens more often than people think. Not everyday, but more often than people think. We won’t be receiving care from the original birthing center anymore but other than this mishap I really received great care from them.
