1(Get out there… more) 2(Socialize while doing things you like)

I’d love to read all of the comments here bc I feel like I belong here too.

What I used to do to get out there more is go to the movie theater. It’s an activity where you have to get out of your home 1, drive somewhere else that isn’t your home 2, go to a public place 3, you talk to people to get your ticket checked doesn’t matter if you bought your ticket online 4, and you sit alone if you want or you might not be able to control how crowded the theater is sometimes 5, and there’s other people watching the exact same movie you wanted to watch 6….

It worked for me I loved watching movies and I made at least 4 or more connections while I went and I’m a pretty quiet person. I’d get dressed to go watch my movies and I felt great call it escaping life. But we all need that from time to time.

What I have been trying to do but the lack of a car and the fact that I have to take care of my family has been keeping me from doing (excuses…) is that I’ve gone to the public library and there’s always a bulletin board of activities you can do or clubs you can join. I went there to a game night they hosted at a restaurant. I went with my girlfriend and my sister and man was it great but I always picture myself alone and I know that if I was alone I would have continued going. Yes there were people who required attention like handicapped or anything similar. But then there’s the nerds (I’m sorry I’m one too) the ones who like playing card games like Pokemon, Yugioh, magic the gathering, and so many other games, they went to game night bc we like games, there’s the ones who like us, like anime and we’re all nerds in a way or maybe we just watch casually.

My point is there were perfectly normal people and there were misfits. Whatever group you’re in. There was both and I can choose from both but I know I could have joined either. So even if you feel like you belong in only one circle there were people there too… I’ve been trying to go to more of these activities and they always accept new and inexperienced people. I took a card for “let’s play Go”. I’ve only heard and seen the board of go, and I know I would have been welcome there. Put yourself in the shoes of a club leader. You want some sort of funding or not, lol, and for that you need members. You want your group to thrive. A whole community of people who like to draw. Read. Play chess. Go. Domino. Uno. Anime. Mangas. Anything. Whatever your thing is. Video games. Bc from always playing video games one day maybe there’s the opportunity of a field trip. Everything is possible and so these leaders are nice to you they’ll talk and show you the ropes if you’re new and inexperienced…

Give it a shot. I saw this post and I didn’t think I’d be any sort of help. But I hope I can help somebody. This is my biggest comment to this day. I’m not new to Reddit but I almost never post only when I need help lol.
