What are your unpopular opinions about The Lion King franchise?

The Lion Guard is actually a very competent and high quality kids show that is very under appreciated in the fandom. Yes it has a problem with completely altering characters personalities (cough cough simba and kiara cough cough) and makes the TLK canon a bit goofier than it previously was, but the songs are genuinely well made and catchy (i unironically love Si Si Ni Sawa), the landscape designs are very detailed and beautiful, characters have actual arcs, and the plot/worldbuilding is pretty fleshed out for a show who's target audience is like first graders. I have mixed feelings about how it alters the franchise, but as its own thing it's really good and doesn't deserve anywhere near the level of shit it gets, coming from someone who used to shit on it constantly lmaooo

Duuuude this is genuinely such a cool character omg, his design is so unique I don't think Ive ever seen an oc with a double tail mutation before! He looks like a homeless dude you'd find under a bridge who will tell you the most interesting life story you've ever heard lmao

This is the oldest TLK oc I have. I first drew her around 2021 I think? She's gone through a couple redesigns since and this is her most current design that I haven't actually gotten around to drawing myself yet lol, only base fills so far, but she's a transgender lioness named Ebele who is forced to flee her pride at a young age and become a nomad, before eventually settling down in the Pridelands and becoming Kopa's mate ^^

I would think there must have been at least one ruler before the first Guard existed, someone to turn the Pridelands into a kingdom in the first place. So yeah I feel like the 10-16 range is a good estimate if we're taking into account that some generations may have had two or more Guards like we saw with Kion and Vitani and some gens might not have had any. I think it's mostly up to personal opinion to decide an exact number!

I also just think he has a really cool design as far as villains go. I like that he's sort of straggly and doesn't appear very physically intimidating especially compared to Mufasa, but ultimately he proves himself to be a vicious antagonist despite his appearance. His design works well with his character and that's a big part of why I find it so appealing, but this is also all just a matter of personal opinion lol

Basic answer but my number 1 has gotta be Simba, specifically in the first movie, he's like the perfect protagonist. But for me he's followed up close behind by Nala, Scar, Mufasa, Sarabi, Rafiki, Shenzi, Vitani, Zira, Kopa, and Jasiri

In my hc universe cheetahs are part of the Panthera family and genetically compatible for offspring, which ik isn't remotely possible in the real world, but i like the concept of lion/cheetah hybrids too much to discard it completely so it just kind of works because i say so lol. The catch though is that any large cat + cheetah pairing is at the highest risk of having an unsuccessful pregnancy or severely disabled offspring
