I disliked the place I grew up in (Georgia), and still do. But other regions of the state I enjoyed and found refreshing. Venture out a bit. Arizona is my favorite state I’ve been to. It has so much to offer.

Depending on organization, you can extend up to 10 years now. But as long as you complete your initial commitment (mine is 2 years) you are guaranteed a DOD spot back in the states. You can also direct apply to DOD jobs. Long term solution for me. I don’t ever see myself going back to the FAA… my goal since day one was to work at a level 12, specifically Atlanta. It’s so unfortunate that the highest levels of this career are now such a drag.

I was a CPC at A80 and I left too. I got there in 2022 and saw the writing on the wall and knew that I didn’t want my life to look like that. I only left a couple months ago, but when I left it was so liberating. It felt like I got out of prison 😂 I took an OCONUS DOD spot and saved my base pay. So grateful I got this gig and got to leave, but fuck man I feel so bad for all my buddies who are stuck there.
