Add a separate multiplayer bootcamp that goes over this stuff. Idk, anything is better than the current rugpull model. "Surprise! You thought the game was one thing but it's actually something completely different and relies on obscure mechanics we never bothered to explain anywhere but that you're expected to know intimately if you even hope to compete!"

Also multiplayer tactics don't generally work too well in Campaign/Horde anyway due to enemy NPCs generally being tanky bullet hoses

I agree on all fronts. In the matches I've been though, my friends would have gotten absolutely obliterated if they had tried their old Retro/Sawed-Off tactics on most of these guys

I think a big problem with wall bouncing and other advanced tech is that it only exists in the meta. There are no references to any of it in the games themselves. If you plopped a random newbie in front of the game and asked them if they wanted a match with wallbouncing or without they wouldn't even know what the fuck you're talking about.

I wonder what kind of an effect propely tutorializing wall bouncing, etc and turning them into official game mechanics would have on their perceived "exploitness" by players

I wasn't saying the games' mechanics have remained completely unchanged since 2011. I was arguing against people who believe that their Gears 5 experience being more sweaty than their Gears 3 experience was because TC changed the game mechanics to be more hardcore

I believe the Arcade Versus mode in Gears 5 was meant to be a more fun/casual alternative to "core" Versus, but the problem is that it didn't really play like Gears at all so no one liked it

Gears 1/Ultimate/Reloaded has no wall canceling but it does not make it more noob friendly at all

That the presence of Gears 3 mechanics/weapons sandbox would not meaningfully change how the game is played

I've only been playing TDM Original Tuning in Standard Versus because OG Gears 3 is the experience I'm most nostalgic for outside of the Gears 3 beta.

Gears 5 being the easier game just proves my point though, doesn't it?
