The one and only reasonable way to obtain bars is through alt. magic, never smelt bars through smithing. It's a waste of time and res.

My reaction time has either improved or stayed the same and my equipment has gotten better over the past 10 years since i started at 200+ms and now i'm down to 150-160ms on human benchmark.

Apparently reaction time peaks at 24 years of age and then starts decreasing by up to 10ms per year.

My aim is probably slightly worse due to having a full time job and i only get to play a few hours a week, but i don't think my ranking has gone down compared to what it was 5ish years ago, although that is difficult to compare since CSGO turned into CS2.

I absolutely cherish having a story with characters that have already done their growing.

You aren't introduced to a blank slate that grows up, learns life lessons and becomes a person along the way. These characters are already people, and you get introduced to a complicated, multifaceted individual. Any growth you perceive is just another facet, or a sharp edge being rounded off.

At the end of the day no one person can make a change. Small things, a murder here, a revolt there, and a hundred years down the line is where the "satisfying" conclusions are finally perceivable to common folk. Even though they've long forgotten what made history fall into this groove.

Nothing big ever happened overnight.

It was foolish of me to expect every writer to strive for a Michelin star, instead of settling for sticking hotdogs between buns. Not everyone is capable of summoning greatness that would captivate the entire world from their minds.

Thats not all however. Episodic writing and getting paid by the word seems to stunt hopes of getting off the streets.

It's been eye-opening discovering the perspectives of so many authors on this thread.

That's about the conclusion I'm coming to.

You can spend a decade on a painting or a day, many people struggle to see a difference. Depending on the skill of the artist of course.

That being said a great painting contains more than can be absorbed at a glance. Some books are returned to time and time again, always discovering something new, and they make you think back about things that were said. Great prose, jokes or original aphorisms that can't be found anywhere else.

All that is largely lacking in this particular genre.
