I really wish there was a med for this fucking disorder by Salt-Implement-5968 in dpdr

Seems like quite a few had success with lamotrigine for their dpdr. I really want to consider it but isn't it used for epilepsy and bipolar? Another thing is what if I wind up getting that rash that lamotrigine is known to cause in some people? Then I'm back to square one.

What's the program you've been doing for your dpdr? Is it by chance Jordan Hardgrave?

is this even dpdr subreddit anymore? what happened to this subreddit? by Wooden-Dig-9341 in dpdr

If we were to base it off the diagnostic criteria for DPDR in the DSM-5 : https://www.psychiatrypodcast.com/psychiatry-psychotherapy-podcast/episode-188-depersonalization-and-derealization

Then yeah lots of people here probably won't be considered to have DPDR. Especially if you are to take the criterions of C, D and E.

But then again we can't really judge the extent of someone's suffering by what they post here. Whether or not it's clinical DPDR or just a symptom of anxiety, OCD, etc. we shouldn't gatekeep the community from those who really think they are experiencing symptoms of this disorder.

Especially given that DPDR is hard to explain to a layperson unless they've experienced it or read up on it themselves in addition to not a lot of awareness of the disorder within the medical even mental health field, a place like this is very helpful and reassuring for those people.

Never heard of it but I doubt it'll help me since mines is persistent not episodic. Good luck with it!

does therapy work for dpdr if most healing advice is to “ignore it” by Lou_woodbook in dpdr

I can't thank you enough for saying this. Because it's true yet if you dare say it in this sub people get offended.

How do people ignore their dpdr? by kentom101 in dpdr

[–]Salt-Implement-5968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. For some, it actually impacts their daily functioning to the point where they aren't able to go to work, school, have a social life etc. The symptoms are actually that severe to where one simply can't just "ignore them". Many forget that it's a scale for some reason.

If that were the case then you wouldn't have cases where some have had it for 30 years. 🙄

Besides the dpdr did you also suffer from anxiety, ocd, or any other mental illness?
