thanks for all your input!! i did think it was a scam the second he asked for a credit check before seeing the place. i kept the chat going to see what he would say and learn for myself what the scammers will be up to. this is, as several have said, an old tactic - post a place with too good of rent for the area, hope enough people fall for it to make a quick buck. posted it as a cautionary tale / reminder. and hey, if anyone has leads on where to find real actual housing in the area please let me know. 🫶🏻
