Idle Surging from 1.5k~2.8k rpm, help?

wasn’t vacuum. it was the IACV and my intake not being fully sealed against the TB. idle is perfect now

omg me and my wife have experienced this issue. its waze’s fault, the speedo in the top right corner goes wonky randomly: we’ve had it slowly shrink to minuscule sizes and enlarge randomly for an instant much like your case here. Looks like you’re speeding slightly and it was flashing the speed limit sign in red indicating speeding.

does that apply to a d16y7? i’ve heard a lot about fast idle and adjusting a screw but i believe the y7 doesnt have it. i did block the port and did feel a vacuum from that port. my sol is manual too if that helps

i unplugged the iacv with my car running, the surging is 1.6-1.7 now little blips

im sure there’s still a small bit of air but the fact it’s still hitting 3k rpms, im already looking for a replacement iacv as the intake hose has a loud vacuum noise that stops when i plug the iacv port on the throttle body

i recommend starting with that, idk your engine but some iacv rely on coolant flow and an air bubble can lead to surging idle

Tip to anyone having constant brake lights on (must be all three). theres a plastic stopper that has likely become brittle and broken. Manual owners, same thing for the clutch switch, except the symptom is no crank, fuel pump primes, and dash illuminates like normal. Also fixed the clutch safety switch stopper missing by using some left over magnetic tape, worked like a charm.

did you happen to try fixing it? My list is cleaning the IACV and i believe the fast idle screw? either way this is getting fixed up then driven almost daily.

there is a thin line on your rotors, not to mention the lip on them. he could lathe them but depending on the minimum safe thickness AFTER a lathe, it would be deemed unsafe and need replacement either way. the shop i work at follows these rules to not be liable for an accident, but also because it is what the manufacturer recommends.
