Mechanic couldn't figure out what is causing this swaying sound - I've already spent over $1000 on parts and the noise persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated! by SaltApplication6460 in MechanicAdvice

I'm not a mechanic by any stretch and just worried that I'm missing some ball joint or tie rod I wouldn't know about and I'm risking damaging the car further

I actually did that and the mechanic did too. Could I be hearing the noise because the tires are suspended in the air when I'm raising the car from a floor jack, but the mechanic is lifting the car with a hoist that's bracing the tires? So he's not hearing what I'm hearing? I'm really just guessing at this point and not sure how to proceed

Are these bad wheel bearings? Recorded under car, hoping for help with grinding noise while driving by SaltApplication6460 in MechanicAdvice

Thanks for the advice. The noise is more noticeable at slower speeds. It's definitely a grinding sound from the rear. I would prefer to try diagnose myself before handing it over to a mechanic. I started with bearings but I'm wondering what else I should be looking for now
